The purpose of this article is to find the factors contributing to the concept of decriminalization of drug cases. This study is a qualitative research based on documentary study and in-depth interviews of 10 stakeholders who are involved in policy-making process. It was found that the key factors that encourage the decriminalization of drug cases are the drug problems intensified in all areas of the country. Such problems make all sectors of the society to recognize the necessity of decisive measures to solve the problems, causing case backlogs and overcrowding issues later.
