Laboratory To Landscape: Mycorestoration, Riley Sanae Allen

Mycorestoration is the use of saprophytic fungi to remediate pollutants from land and water. To address contaminant presence in non-point source pollution primarily from agricultural runoff, we worked towards identifying the community-scale implementation process of mycofiltration, a type of mycorestoration that filters contaminants from water, in Arcata, California. This place-based study used Participatory Action Research (PAR) to collaboratively conduct Transdisciplinary Research (TR) to collect baseline qualitative and quantitative data that did not exist for Arcata’s context.
