It is sometimes held to be paradoxical that liberal democracy has offered no sound justification of itself. For those who are citizens of liberal democracies, and therefore are concerned not only with the regime of the fatherland but a 1 so with the good regime genus, this paradox causes not only confusion. The citizen is left a so without justification for the patros: his love of the fatherland has then no rational logos.
