Ever since Austin has developed his famous Speech Act Theory, it has become common knowledge that the pragmatic value of such acts carry a purely cultural nature. It is established that every linguistic system carries a host of cultural and social characteristics that allow the speech acts to deliver diverse pragmatic ends in a given discourse. The present article seeks to shed light on a fundamental issue in contemporarydiscourse, namely, the issue of functionalgrammar. It argues that Speech Interaction Model, Dynamic Discourse Models, Career Perspectives of Discourse, Comprehensive Rhetoric Decisions: Space, Event, Speech Type Selection, Speech Style Selection, Speech World Mode, Speech Achievement... are components that should be invoked in order to contribute to this grammatical model.
