Determining The Psychosocial Needs Of The Nurses Of Covid-19 Patients, Allison Stevens
Determining The Psychosocial Needs Of The Nurses Of Covid-19 Patients, Allison Stevens
ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
Nurses are a vital element of the COVID-19 healthcare crisis and have been since the beginning of the COVID-19 response. The professional strain put on nurses included, but is not limited to: changing professional roles, rapidly changing policies and procedures, an influx of patients—particularly of high acuity, and change in workplace morale. However, nurses also had to carry the burdens of living as a member of society, family member, friend, community member, and above all, simply as a person surviving a pandemic themselves. With all of the stressors nurses have endured, it stands to reason that their psychosocial needs have …
Perceptions Of High Achieving High School Students Regarding The Professionalization Of Teaching And Their Interest In Becoming Teachers, Jonathan Crossley
Perceptions Of High Achieving High School Students Regarding The Professionalization Of Teaching And Their Interest In Becoming Teachers, Jonathan Crossley
ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
This study was designed to highlight the factors that contribute to high-achieving high school students not deciding to join the teaching profession. There is growing evidence to indicate that the teaching profession is comprised mostly of educators in their first five years in the profession and educators with more than 25 years of teaching experience. Increasing numbers of educators are leaving the profession within their first five years in a classroom. On the other end of the spectrum, as teachers with more than 25 years of experience ultimately retire, the question remains about the viability of the profession for younger …
The Effects Of Income Distribution In Elementary Schools, Caitlyn Watson
The Effects Of Income Distribution In Elementary Schools, Caitlyn Watson
Undergraduate Research
This paper first analyzes previous research on the importance of early education and related consequences of child poverty. The presentation of a theory, hypotheses, and testing follows. The paper introduces new research on the relationship between economic status and the academic and social success of elementary school students. Furthermore, the implications of such findings are explored.
Influence Of Drd4 Receptor Gene Polymorphism On Aspirational Quality And Approach Motivation, Harry Henry-Ojo
Influence Of Drd4 Receptor Gene Polymorphism On Aspirational Quality And Approach Motivation, Harry Henry-Ojo
ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
The present study investigates the presence of a molecular genetic basis of the quality of aspiration and motivation for behavior described by Ryan and Deci’s self-determination theory and Gray’s biopsychological theory of personality respectively. In this study, investigation was carried out to determine the impact of DRD4 receptor gene polymorphism on intrinsic and extrinsic aspiration as well as approach motivation using the Aspiration Index scales and Behavioral Inhibition and Activation (BIS/BAS) scales as our psychometric instrument of evaluation. In a pilot study consisting of 9 healthy subjects, the 7R allele of DRD4 receptor gene was associated with higher mean score …
The Impact Of Mentorship Programs On The Behaviors Of Fifth-Grade African American Male Students, Scot Tyler
The Impact Of Mentorship Programs On The Behaviors Of Fifth-Grade African American Male Students, Scot Tyler
ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
African American males inequitably experience two to three times more out-of-school suspensions among other exclusionary discipline practices in comparison with other racial groups, which causes them to become academically disengaged, increases their association with deviant peers, makes them resent of school personnel, and leads them to experience a heightened sense of alienation. Although much is known about the effects of mentorship programs, there has been little inquiry or research to investigate the relationship between in-school suspensions and out-of-school suspensions of fifth-grade African American male students with and without a mentorship program. The purpose of this study was to determine if …
Mindfulness Sessions For The Prevention Of Compassion Fatigue In Pediatric Oncology Nurses, Sara Neal
Mindfulness Sessions For The Prevention Of Compassion Fatigue In Pediatric Oncology Nurses, Sara Neal
ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
Over the last several years, compassion fatigue (CF) has been considered one of the main reasons that nurses choose to leave the bedside and the profession. While many healthcare organizations recognize the problems that are associated with CF, only a few have worked towards preventing it. An intervention that has shown promise of aiding nurses with CF is mindfulness. The purpose of this quantitative pretest-posttest design was to focus on the effects of the Koru® Mindfulness program with CF and resilience in pediatric oncology nurses. Data collected from the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) v.5 and the Brief Resilience Scale …

One of the most effective ways for rural communities to improve the local economy is by exploring opportunities related to tourism. When communities focus their resources on expanding and improving the tourism industry, it leads to additional opportunities for these communities to increase their revenue, provide jobs and revitalize the local economy. Like many other agencies, the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department has gradually expanded the tourism industry within the City of Richmond in Madison County, Kentucky. To help continue the expansion of this industry, Paradise Cove Aquatic Center opened in 2008. This decision was made because waterparks were becoming …

In the past decade, state government appropriation reductions have forced park agencies to seek other sources of revenue to support park operations. To overcome shrinking budgets, many public park agencies embrace private-sector business models and investigate customer satisfaction, service quality, and user fee structures. The purpose of this study was to obtain public input regarding service quality, general satisfaction, and experience use history of state park visitation. A total of 382 Oklahoma state park users completed an online survey and were sorted into Pro-Fee (n = 200,52%) and No-Fee (n = 182,48%) groups for one-way multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) …
