Abstract

The paper examined the role of the library in the improvement of inclusive education. Bringing to bear some stringent concepts; and ideas that the library management can imbibe, to improve the productivity of the special needs children. The paper also looked intently at the term special education, special needs education and also the benefits of special education. In this paper, the researcher tries to juxtapose the importance of considering the special needs learners, their information quest and needs. The colloquially named reference desk at public libraries is the quintessential meeting point between patron and librarian. In fact, the desk “remains a tangible symbol of [the librarian’s] mission and work” (Johnson, 2019, p. 92). However, many researchers have questioned the purpose and value of the desk in the “changing reference landscape” (Cassell and Hiremath, 2018, p. 3).
