This study's primary goal was to examine how surprise draws attention, which is significant as it may have an impact on memory and learning. The current study examined the post-pandemic effects of social isolation following Covid-19. The researchers were interested in social anxiety disorder (SAD) levels among young women and predicted that the personality variable of locus of control (LOC) could influence SAD levels. This study investigated whether students who scored high in Food Insecurity, would have higher levels of Perceived Stress and lower Sleep Quality. Additionally, this study sought to clarify different types of stressors and their individual contribution to Sleep Quality Risk and Subjective Mental Health. This study investigates the influences of maladaptive perfectionism on female college students' body image dissatisfaction. Specifically, it looks at how maladaptive perfectionism affects social appearance anxiety and body image cognitive distortions. This study experimentally investigated the effects of nonverbal communication in online learning formats, and whether there was an impact on working memory. Participants (N = 40) were randomly assigned to watch 1 of 3 different online video formats. Each video had identical slide show and audio content, but different visibility of the speaker. All videos were 10 minutes long and followed by a 15 multiple choice questionnaire based on the video content. The current study investigated personal (i.e., the Big Five personality traits, academic resilience, and academic engagement) and social characteristics (sense of school belongingness) as predictors of first-year students' transition to university. The study also sought to create a regression model that demonstrated the relative importance of each factor concerning a student's transition while also investigating which factors best predict one's transition overall. Self-compassion is a non-evaluative, protective, and positive attitude comprised of three components: (a) self-kindness, whereby in times of suffering or failure, one is understanding towards themselves, (b) common humanity, referring to the understanding that one’s experiences are part of a larger collective experience, and (c) mindfulness, where one remains conscious of painful thoughts without over-identifying with them (Neff, 2003a). This study investigated whether students who had high perceived parental bonding and low fear of intimacy would have a more positive level of psychological well-being. Additionally, the study sought to determine any differences between a single parent household and a two parent household. The sample consisted of 93 female undergraduate students in University in London, Ontario. An independent t-test revealed there was no significant differences in bonding between a single parent household and a two parent household. This study evaluated university students’ levels of overall social connectedness, perceived stress, loneliness, and strength of social connection with different groups (family, friends, classmates, instructors, university community). Associations between the aforementioned factors were also investigated, and time-related changes to 2020-21 data during COVID-19. Undergraduate students (n = 100) at a university in London, Ontario, completed a questionnaire comprising the Social Connectedness Scale, questions about the strength of social connections with different groups, the UCLA Loneliness Scale, and the Perceived Stress Scale. Previous literature has assessed importance of predictors individually. This study combined predictors to develop a model to predict academic performance of first-year students (n = 90) based on motivated learning strategies and on-campus resource use. An online survey was created to evaluate students’ help-seeking (HS), peer learning (PL), self-efficacy (SE), perceived social support (PSS) and access to social support (SSA) and academic support (ASA) resources. This study investigated the correlation between sleep deprivation, sleep quality, perceived stress, and general well-being and whether they were risk or protective factors for academic burnout. The sample consisted of 61 female undergraduate students at Brescia University College and participants completed an online questionnaire. A correlational analysis and multiple regression model revealed a significant positive correlation with the three studied factors namely sleep deprivation, sleep quality, and perceived stress with academic burnout. Additionally, the study investigated whether knowledge of the statistics requirement in psychology was associated with psychology degree intentions and whether the three math factors were associated with time since last math course. Coping strategies used by varsity athletes connected to sports-related stressors have been studied but, what has yet to be determined is if the stressor type affects the coping strategies selected by these athletes. Participants consisted of 26 competitive athletes with injuries, 27 competitive athletes with other stressors, 12 non-competitive athletes with injuries, and 19 non-competitive athletes with other stressors. This study sought to identify how drug-related beliefs about risk and descriptive and injunctive social norms vary for a variety of legal, prescription, and illicit drugs. Participants completed one online questionnaire which consisted of three problem-solving tasks, a Problem-Solving Inventory (PSI), a Motivation for Gaming Questionnaire (MOGQ), and gaming information questionnaire. The literature has demonstrated clear relationships between personality traits, locus of control, academic self-efficacy, and academic achievement. However, past research has seldom investigated personality characteristics and subjective measures of academic success. The current study investigated how personality impacted the academic experience and grades of university students using an online self-report questionnaire. All measures of personality traits, academic self-efficacy, and locus of control were correlated with measures of a successful online academic experience.
