What Are The Ethics Of Ai In Relation To The Nasw Code Of Ethics?, Lea Saga
AI Assignment Library
The use of Artificial intelligence (AI) in the social work profession is an emerging area of practice. AI promises to revolutionize the way we work by using computer systems to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning from experience, reasoning, problem-solving and understanding natural language. The use of AI has raised questions about how to harness its benefits, mitigate its risks, and ensure it aligns with the values and standards in the NASW Code of Ethics. What are the ethics of AI, including issues related to informed consent; managing risks and benefits; and ensuring that AI respects …

Differentiating between real and imaginary places on a map is not necessarily a strength of undergraduates--or ChatGPT--in a basic world regional geography course. Using a video, The 15 Countries that people think are FAKE, as a launching tool, students undertake an exercise in determining which places are real.

Instructional medical librarians are uniquely positioned in a context governed by multiple instructional frameworks emerging from librarianship and the professions with which they liaise. Yet very little literature exists on medical librarians’ use of curriculum mapping to align their instruction with these frameworks. This review illuminates the current state of curriculum mapping in medical librarianship. We searched five bibliographic databases for articles published between 2010 and August 2021 and centred on information literacy(IL)curriculum mapping within a health sciences university context. Studies were included based upon pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were extracted using an instrument developed primarily a priori, with …

Humans Emulating Machines: Mimicking Predictive Text Algorithms, Gabe Kilzer
AI Assignment Library
There have been several pieces of technology throughout history that have significantly affected individual lives and societies. Yet, no piece of technology has been adopted as quickly by as many people and groups as ChatGPT. ChatGPT stands for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer; it uses a deep neural network to draw information from large datasets and generate human-like text. In this activity, we are going to engage in a (very) human process of information generation to understand the use of predictive algorithms to generate text in response to a given prompt. Then, we will analyze the consequences of such technology using …

In North Dakota (ND), American Indian women are more likely to be exposed to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and interpersonal violence, and receive late prenatal care (PNC) compared to other racial groups. In a sample of 1,849 (weighted n = 26,348) women from the 2017 to 2019 North Dakota Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System, we performed a series of logistic regression models to estimate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) for AI and Other Racial Identity women compared to White women regarding risk of late PNC (initiated after week 13) and dissatisfaction of PNC timing. Models were …

Prior research has rarely focused on sexual motives (e.g., motives for having sex) when studying sexual violence perpetration prevention. The current study examined the role of sexual motives alongside other risk factors like alcohol expectancies in predicting sexual violence. We analyzed data from 205 male college students; 36% reported sexual perpetration of some type. Participants completed a series of questionnaires in a randomized order, including: measures of prior sexual perpetration, sexual motives, rape myth acceptance, alcohol expectancies, and a measure of social desirability. Data were analyzed using a series of T-tests and logistic regressions. With one exception (coping motives), all …

First implemented in the 1990s, specialized domestic violence courts represent one of several solutions developed to improve the response to domestic violence and enhance services for victims (Collins et al., 2021). Other solutions have included mandatory arrest and prosecutorial no-drop policies as well as increased funding support for victim services. There are reportedly over 300 DVCs in the United States as well as 50 in Canada and 100 in the United Kingdom (Eley, 2005; Gutierrez et al., 2016; Hemmens et al., 2020; Home Office, 2008; Tutty & Koshan, 2013). Measuring Sexual Violence Perpetration Acknowledgement: Testing The Effects Of Label And Response Format, Raeann E. Anderson, Hannah N. Doctor, Danielle M. Piggott
Psychology Faculty Publications
Individual acknowledgment of sexual assault and rape perpetration is extraordinarily low in prior research. Only about 1% of individuals report perpetrating rape, in contrast to the 6% perpetrating rape as estimated by using behaviorally specific items that exclude stigmatized words such as rape. The goal of this study was to examine two possible measurement mechanisms for increasing perpetration acknowledgment: label choice and response format. In Sample 1 (N = 291), participants completed two acknowledgment items which varied in label choice. One item used the term rape; one used the term sexual assault. Acknowledgment of perpetration using the …

Effect Of Tdcs Stimulation On Conner’S Cpt Performance Of Young Adult, Shakila Parvin Bristy
Graduate Research Achievement Day Posters
Conner’s CPT measures attention related performances in adult and children using EEG recordings. This study showed changes in cognitive performance induced by transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). The objective of this study is to prove, if tDCS stimulation compared to sham can improve Conner’s CPT performance by increasing excitability of the visual cortex through anodal stimulation of the occipital lobe. After analyzing the result, we found lower alpha, beta and gamma mean values in sham session and a decrease in theta activity during actual tDCS stimulation session resulting in greater excitability in the visual cortex and improvement of attentional performance. …

Evolutionary Cartographies Of Language Diversification: Quantitative Approaches To The Geolinguistic Mapping Of The Kayanic Languages (Central Borneo), Deandré A. Espree-Conaway
Theses and Dissertations
Why are there so many languages in the world and how did this diversity come about? Every day, humans around the world speak over 7,000 languages. One of the most impactful theories describing the processes and mechanisms of language diversification is that of the Linguistic Niche Hypothesis (Lupyan & Dale 2010). The Linguistic Niche Hypothesis suggests that languages adapt to their environments (Lupyan & Dale 2010: 1). Lupyan and Dale describe it, stating that "just as biological organisms are shaped by ecological niches, languages structures...adapt to the environment (niche) in which they are being learned and used" (2010: 1). The Prevalence Of Sexual Violence Perpetration In Sexual Minority Men: A Secondary Analysis Of Systematic Review Data, Raeann E. Anderson, Sara K. Kuhn, Amanda M. Vitale, Alyssa M. Ciampaglia, Kristin E. Silver
Psychology Student Publications
Purpose: Prior literature illustrates that sexual minority people (e.g., bisexual, gay, queer) are at increased vulnerability for sexual violence victimization compared to heterosexual peers, including while in college. However, the study of sexual violence perpetration in sexual minority populations, much less specifically sexual minority college men, has been neglected. This article reviews the literature and presents a secondary data analysis of a systematic review on college men’s sexual perpetration rates and associated methodology. We also conducted analyses to summarize available literature regarding publishing dates, authors, and data inclusivity. Methods: We downloaded the dataset and associated materials from Mendeley.com’s data archive. …

Weaving Ethnic Identity: Discovering The Threads Of Multilingual Diversity In The Fabric Of Group Identity Among Karen Communities Of Denver, Colorado, Charity J. Seidler
Theses and Dissertations
How do Karen immigrants use language within Colorado communities? My thesis answers this question through narrative case studies of six S’gaw Karen women. Many Karen refugees, who flee the decades-long conflict within their homeland in Myanmar (Burma), find themselves navigating life first in Thailand, and eventually in the United States as foreign-language speakers. These refugees encounter numerous linguistic and cultural barriers in their new U.S. homeland, where it is difficult to function in many domains if they do not have the opportunity to learn much English upon arrival.
The six case studies are based on recorded sociolinguistic qualitative open interviews. …
