Moral Economy Of The Frontiers: Precarious Healthcare In Malinau, Anwar B. Arifin

Antropologi Indonesia

The precarity of a nation’s healthcare system often shows its true colours in remote areas, including the frontiers. This lack of stability is also seen in Malinau, where inaccessibility due to inadequate infrastructure leads to a shortage of basic medicines and necessary medical equipment. Coupled with limited healthcare workers, doctors and nurses frequently encounter situations in which they are unable to take care of patients properly. This creates a specific form of moral economy that is inevitably shaped by medical infrastructure. While moral economy in healthcare does not break any new grounds, there is room to explore the dynamics of …

Evaluating The Basement Design Of Low-Rise Building With Two-Stage Analysis Using Bim Integration: Hangar Study Case, Given Tohho, Jessica Sjah, Ayomi Dita Rarasati, Bambang Trigunarsyah

Smart City

Building Information Modelling (BIM) has revolutionized the way the construction industry designs, constructs, and manages buildings. Certainly, the utilization of BIM can optimize the usage of materials in a construction project, considering the high level of concrete consumption globally and its significant environmental impact. The implementation of BIM is intended to calculate the volume of concrete and steel material usage in the design process of low-rise buildings with basements, exemplified in this case by a 5-story laboratory hangar with a 1-story basement. The building design is carried out through a two-stage analysis, which involves separating the upper portion from the …

In DKI Jakarta, despite the extensive infrastructure development, there has been a significant decline in the usage of public transportation. This can be attributed to the inadequate quality of the services provided. Various studies have highlighted the significance of evaluating the quality of service in public transportation to ensure passenger satisfaction and attract new users. However, there is no agreement on the most effective methodology and suitable indicators for conducting such analyses. In addition, there is a growing recognition of the importance of promoting gender equality in multimodal public transportation (MMPT) and understanding gender differences and perceptions of MMPT services. …

Culture is the expression of life that has been held by society for centuries, but it is possible for it to be hijacked by right-wing groups for their own purposes. Since it is an essential component in the formation of collective identities, it is misappropriated by the group to cultivate its ideology and to fragment social cohesion. The case between Indonesia and Germany has been chosen to analyse the similarities of right-wing characters in exploiting culture, including music, through the lens of Margareth Archer's cultural theory and Ulrich Beck's risk society theory, and later compared using Midlarsky’s extremism perspective. …
