Modeling Of Sediment Transport In Mae Tao Creek, Tak Province, Thailand, Wunvisa Tharathammathigorn, Pichet Chaiwiwatworakul
Applied Environmental Research
This research focused on the bed sediment transport during wet season in Mae Tao Creek, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. Sediment was the main source of cadmium transport in Mae Tao Creek. MIKE 11 was used to model the channel flow and bed sediment transport. The model was run in hydrodynamic (HD) and sediment transport module (ST). Time series of water depth from May to October were used to calibrate the hydrodynamics of the creek. The reliability of hydrodynamic results was evaluated based on the correlation coefficient (CC) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The CC and RMSE obtained during …

Feasibility Study For Make-Up Water Quality For Cooling Tower By Electro-Coacgulation Process, Sasipim Manasilp, Cattaleeya Pattamaprom
Applied Environmental Research
Cooling tower was a type of heat transfer equipment which was used to enhance heat rejection to the environment by increasing the surface contact between water and air. Water used in the cooling tower system had to be pretreated to prevent scaling and corrosion. As most factories in the northern part of Bangkok utilized both tap water and groundwater, which was known to contain large amount of minerals and suspended solids, water pretreatment was crucial before entering cooling towers or the heat-exchanging systems. Typical water pretreatment system consisted of sand filtration, carbon adsorption and ion-exchange resin adsorption to remove particles …

Efficiency Of Triple Superphosphate Fertilizer To Stabilize Cadmium In Different Soil Texture Characteristics, Chatchavaporn Yingsombat, Usarat Thawornchaisit
Applied Environmental Research
This research investigated the effectiveness of Triple Superphosphate (TSP) as a stabilizing agent for cadmium (Cd) in three representative soils having different texture characteristics (loamy-sand, clay loam, and clay soils). Results showed that addition of TSP proved to be an effective method for reduction of Cd leachability in all Cd contaminated soils. The partitioning of Cd from the potentially available phase to the more stable phase was observed in all TSP treatments based on the sequential extraction data. Moreover, performance of TSP to immobilize Cd depended on soil types and compositions. The effectiveness of TSP to reduce Cd leachability was …

Effects Of Ferrocene On The Solubilization Of Alkanes In A Microemulsion System, Saravanee Singtong, Chantra Tongcumpou, David A. Sabatini
Applied Environmental Research
Ferrocene is a metallic additive that has been used to boost the octane number of gasoline. Even though ferrocene is not an environmental contaminant of high concern, it can be found in soil contaminated with gasoline. Due to its organometallic nature, ferrocene may affect the phase behavior of other alkanes which has been contaminated to the environment and limit their removal using surfactant-enhanced aquifer remediation (SEAR). Therefore, the aim of this work was to investigate the effects of ferrocene on the solubilization capacity of alkanes in micellar surfactant solutions. The solubilization capacity and column study of alkanes with and without …
