A Formative Evaluation Of Animal Watch, Ivon Arroyo, Tome Muray, Joseph Beck, Beverly Woolf, Carole Beal

We present the results of a deep formaive evaluation of AnimalWatch, an intelligent tutor for arithmetic. Students leamed with AnimalWatch, and had a poscive experience with it. Still, we detailed AnimalWatch selected too easy problems. We proposed different hypotheses for this beha* ior and analyzed the performance of each ITS component, by observing the intarctiorrs of hundreds of students with the system. We conclude with a report of lessons learned that would make ITS better.
