The South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology received a grant from the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department and the South Carolina Department of Archives and History to conduct a statewide assessment of the cultural resources of the state. This report details the results of this one-year study to establish a representative sample of the archaeological and historical resources of the state of South Carolina, to be used by the South Carolina Heritage Trust as a planning tool for the possible acquisition of such sites as Heritage Preserves.
