Under contract to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Gray & Pape, Inc., of Houston, Texas, conducted a Phase I marine archaeological survey for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Rhodes Point Reef Project in Keller Bay, Calhoun County, Texas. The archaeological survey was sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The Area of Potential Effects for the proposed Rhodes Point Reef Project is a 129.09-hectare (319-acre) trapezoidal tract within the mouth of Keller Bay, at its confluence with Lavaca Bay. Under contract to BIO-WEST, Inc., Gray & Pape, Inc., of Houston, Texas, conducted a Phase I marine archaeological survey for the proposed Webster to Seadrift Pipeline Project in Calhoun and Jackson counties, Texas. Enterprise Products Operating LLC sponsored the archaeological survey. All marine fieldwork and reporting activities were completed with reference to state law (Antiquities Code of Texas [Title 9, Chapter 191 of the Texas Natural Resources Code] and Texas State rules found in the Texas Administrative Code [Title 13, part 2, Chapters 26 and 28]) for cultural resources investigations. All marine fieldwork and reporting activities were completed with reference to state law (Antiquities Code of Texas [Title 9, Chapter 191 of the Texas Natural Resources Code] and Texas State rules found in the Texas Administrative Code [Title 13, part 2, Chapters 26 and 28]) for Cultural Resources investigations. The Port of Calhoun, LLC. is planning to construct a commercial facility for transporting and storing sand. The facility includes the construction of a number of onshore deadmen for barge mooring, a bulkhead for loading and unloading barges, buildings for sand storage, and an area for the disposal of dredge material. Because the project will involve the placement of fill within the ordinary high water mark of the Victoria Barge Canal, the project will require a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District (Corps). BOB Hydrographics, LLC (BOB) conducted a marine archaeological survey of a proposed oyster reef restoration site in Lavaca Bay, Texas. This project, sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, spans portions of State Mineral Lease Tracts 17A and 20A in Calhoun County. The area of potential effect (APE) proposed for reefing is 30 acres. A total of 50 acres was surveyed, including a 50- meter buffer around the APE. Water depth averages 5 feet. Reefing will require placement of a substrate, such as oyster shell, clam shell, limestone, river-rock or crushed concrete, on the seafloor to provide a hard …

During May 1979, archaeologists from the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas at San Antonio, conducted literature research and an archaeological field survey of an area to be developed by the Formosa Plastic Company near Point Comfort, Calhoun County, Texas.

The field and literature survey was done under contract between the Center for Archaeological Research (UTSA) and the Pace Company of Houston, Texas.
