The aim of this study was to assess if the conditions of life and demographic variables are associated with the evaluation of the Quality of life in young people. We applied a survey of demographic data and the instrument WHOQOL-100 to 418 mexican students living in regions with different levels of human and economical development. The results indicate that there is no difference in Perceived Quality of live’s scores when the conditions of community life are considerate. Objetivo. Describir las dimensiones culturales que podrían favorecer u obstaculizar la prevención del dengue en dos entidades mexicanas con diferentes experiencias vinculadas a esta enfermedad. Métodos. Se realizó un estudio antropológico cultural cognitivo en el que participaron 160 personas adultas seleccionadas por muestreo propositivo. Se utilizaron las técnicas de listados libres y de sorteo de montones, indagando los términos asociados al concepto “dengue”. El análisis de consenso fue realizado mediante factorización de componentes principales, análisis de conglomerados jerárquicos y escalas multidimensionales. Resultados. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar condiciones de vida de los adolescentes acusados por cometer delitos contra la salud y robo desde una perspectiva psicosocial. Se revisaron los expedientes de los menores remitidos al Centro Tutelar de Menores de Jalisco entre septiembre de 2006 y agosto de 2007. En los expedientes consta la valoración psicológica, social, educativa, médica y propuesta judicial, así como información administrativa. The study objective was to explore the conceptual dimensions of the quality of life of future professionals of psychology, from a cultural perspective. The design was exploratory transversal with descriptive and correlation analysis. It was applied free listing and pile sorts. The analysis was processed with ANTHROPAC v. 4.1. The results showed high cultural consensus (10.44 in men and 7.26 in women). It was associated to well-being concept, mental health and spirituality. It is necessary an economic basis, job and education, for to get comfort and happiness

Compare the quality of life (QoL), perception of health and its relation in people with and without diabetes. Study comparative sample of 208 people over 40 years, users of the public health system. For QoL, we apply 5 EuroQol-5D dimensions, besides sociodemographic variables, the data were processed with SPSS 11.0 program using Chi2 analysis of variance and odds ratios, taking as a significant P <0.05. The total sample (238), 61% are women, with an average age of 54.7 ± 6.8 years, 47% devoted to housework, 38% with higher education to primary, 23% without primary and 39% Primary completed, the separation between diabetics and non-diabetics, there were no differences in sociodemographic variables of gender, education and marital status, with the exception of financial compensation (p = 0.002) and this time the average age (0.002). In 5 dimensions and the overall rating of CV, the score was higher for people without diabetes who self rated with a better quality of life, the area most affected in people with diabetes is anxiety / depression (P <0.00). There was a tendency for women with diabetes to qualify higher CV compared with men. People with diabetes are classified as deteriorating quality of life, although there is a favorable trend in women with diabetes who evaluate and improve their quality of life compared to men with diabetes. The most affected dimension is anxiety / depression.

The aim of this study is to identify the life conditions of adolescent subjects accused of having committed robbery and crimes against health, from a psychosocial perspective. A tally of 122 dossiers were studied, from which 50% were male and female adolescents accused of crimes against health, and the other 50%, for robbery. Seventy per cent of males and 68.2% of females had consumed a type of drugs, 66% of the total of the sample showed little tolerance to frustration, 60% had an inadequate handling of affectivity, with a significant difference when studied for every type of crime. A transversal analytic study was carried out to compare quality of life (QOL) and general health (GH) in workers users of health centers in Guadalajara. The non-probabilistic sample included 261 adults: 110 wage earning workers and 151 unemployed. EuroQOL D-5 and the General Health Questionnaire were applied, and the diagnosis of diabetes was registered. Ji2 OR and F of Fisher were used, con SPSS 10.0, considering significant p<0.5. More men were found in the employed group versus the unemployed one (65% vs 17%) (p=0.00), resulting the mean ages 54 vs 56 years old respectively for the mentioned groups (0.00), which had no instruction level differences between them. There were more widowers in the out of work (11% vs 20%) (p=0.05) and highest frequency of diabetes was found in workers. QOL was higher in workers (73 vs 70 points) (p=0.02), and anxiety/depression were higher in unemployed (61% vs. 48%) (p=0.03), OR 1.72 (1.02- 2.93). Workers qualified better in GH (73% vs 49%); OR 2.41 (1.37-4.27). The results suggest positive influence of work in the subjective assessment of welfare, despite physical illness.

Objective Determining the prevalence of depression and comparing sociodemographic, metabolic and clinical indicators in depressed and non depressed people suffering from type 2 diabetes. Methods A comparative cross-sectional study was carried out on a sample of 450 people aged over 30 suffering from type 2 diabetes; they had been diagnosed more than one year before and psychopathology had not been determined for them.
