Barriers For Library And Information Science Researchers From Developing Countries: What The “Library Philosophy And Practice Phenomenon” Tells Us, Brady Lund

This short commentary introduces and discusses the “Library Philosophy and Practice (LPP) Phenomenon,” wherein a scholarly journal published in a developed country has an extremely large number of authors from developing countries, relative to the typical journal. Elements of journals that fit the LPP phenomenon are discussed, as well as what this phenomenon says about barriers to scholarly publishing for researchers from developing nations. Implications for journals that lack diverse authorship from developing nations are listed. This phenomenon may be studied in other disciplines to further illuminate divides in the scholarly realm.

The present work analyzes and improves on previous content analysis of transhumanist terms in military literature using the tools of library and information studies.

The study is aimed to investigate the scientific research productivity of India’s NIRF first ranked higher academic & research institute, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for a period of 05 years during 2014-2018. A total of 12,130 research papers were retrieved as SCIE publication from WoS bibliographical database and analyzed. The Electronic Journal of Knowledge Management (EJKM) is an online open access peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles with regard to the development of both theory and practice in the field of Knowledge Management. The present paper examines the articles published in EJKM during the period from 2003-13 for identifying the publication output, authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, most prolific contributors, geographical distribution of papers, referencing pattern, self citation pattern and several other characteristics.
