Successful Female Students In Undergraduate Computer Science And Computer Engineering: Motivation, Self-Regulation, And Qualitative Characteristics, Melissa Patterson Hazley

Computer Science (CS) and Computer Engineering (CE) fields typically have not been successful at recruiting or retaining women students. Research indicates several reasons for this shortage but mainly from three perspectives: social issues, exposure/prior knowledge and curriculum issues in K-12 settings. This mixed-methods research addresses a gap in the literature by investigating the motivation and self-regulation behaviors of successful female students who are studying computer science and computer engineering. The findings in phase one of this study indicated that learning and performance approach goals predicted adaptive strategic self-regulation behaviors including strategy use, knowledge building and engagement. Erforschung biologischer Ressourcen der Mongolei / Exploration into the Biological Resources of Mongolia, ISSN 0440-1298

Namshil Chotolchuu wurde am 20.01.1935 in Ulaanbaatar geboren. Sein Vater war in den 60er und 70er Jahren ein bekannter Schachmeister der Mongolei. Mit Chotolchuu verbinden uns sehr erfolgreiche und prägende gemeinsame Mongolisch-Deutsche Biologische Expeditionen und daraus resultierende Publikationen sowie eine lange Freundschaft.

Mit diesem Nachruf wollen wir an ein langes Kapitel der deutsch-mongolischen Zusammenarbeit mit Kollegen der Mongolischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und an einen Pionier der eigenständigen mongolischen Säugetierforschung erinnern, der in der internationalen Kooperation, im Team der Mongolisch-Deutschen Biologischen Expeditionen und im Schrifttum sowie ganz persönlich unvergessen bleibt.

What Does Motivated Mean? Re-Presenting Learning, Technology, And Motivation In Middle Schools Via New Ethnographic Writing, Justin Olmanson

This article offers a critique of the way middle schoolers are often positioned as generalizable objects that can be acted upon to produce measurable increases in motivation and learning. The critique invites a reconsideration and cultural analysis of some of the dominant discourses and perceptions of technology, young adolescence, and the study of motivation. The use of New Ethnographic Writing—a method that performs a cultural critique via extended scenes—connects to the roles and status of motivation, technology, and educational research methods deployed within public schools.
