I'M All For Free Enterprise, But…, Murray L. Weidenbaum
Murray Weidenbaum Publications
Businesses and individuals are quick to support government cuts, but when the cuts affect their own industry, it's a different story. Weidenbaum stresses the importance of reducing the federal deficit, and budget cuts are essential to do this.

Potential Of A Failing Neighborhood, Chester Smolskirevitalize Olneyville Plan By State Colleges.

"Developing neighborhood pride is one of the keys to a healthy neighborhood and a healthy city. In a city that is losing population and jobs, that is faced with increasing numbers of abandoned houses and vacant lots, that has the highest equalized tax rate (tax rate and assessment rate combined) in the state, and that has unique needs because of the large numbers of elderly, minority and poor residents, maintaining strong neighborhoods is a difficult task. Yet, though the task may be difficult, there is hope and there is potential for declining neighborhoods to revitalize themselves. This was the message …
Civilian Space Policy And Applications, U.S. Office Of Technology Assessment
Civilian Space Policy And Applications, U.S. Office Of Technology Assessment
Space Law Documents
The United States orbited its first satellite in 1958, nearly a quarter century ago. In the intervening years, the United States has made great strides in developing peaceful and practical uses of space technology. However, in spite of the dramatic successes of the space program, among which are the recent flights of the Columbia shuttle orbiter, many informed observers express considerable unease about the future of our civilian efforts in space, particularly in light of increased foreign competition and stringent fiscal restraints.
Because of these uncertainties and also because of emerging new prospects for using the space environment, this assessment …

Black And White Perceptions Of Quality Of Life In Boston, Floyd J. Fowler Jr.
Black And White Perceptions Of Quality Of Life In Boston, Floyd J. Fowler Jr.
Center for Survey Research Publications
It is difficult, probably impossible, to compare objectively the seriousness of racial problems and tensions in Boston with those in other cities. However, there can be little doubt that there is a widespread perception that relationships between blacks and whites in Boston constitute a serious problem. Specifically, one image is that Boston is a community in which blacks are not welcome and in which they are treated with unusual hostility and abuse. Another image is that whites in Boston are unfairly maligned as racists and bigots.
In 1980, following several race-related incidents, The Boston Committee was formed. The purpose of …

Bureaucracy And Wildlife: A Historical Overview, Edward E. Langenau
International Journal for the Study of Animal Problems
This paper provides a framework for understanding the Government's position on many wildlife topics, including humane ethics. The Government's historical role in wildlife conservation is traced to pertinent theories of bureaucracy. It is shown that Government involvement in wildlife conservation increased through successive stages of change because of interest group activity.

Educational Follow-Up Study Of Juveniles Released From Ethan Allen And Lincoln Hills (1982), Lois M. Quinn
ETI Publications
This follow-up study examined the educational experiences of 759 youth released during 1979 from Ethan Allen and Lincoln Hills Schools, Wisconsin’s two state correctional institutions for juveniles. Ethan Allen and Lincoln Hills school records for each youth were reviewed as well as transcripts from schools attended before and after release. (105 public and 16 private schools provided student transcripts to the Department of Public Instruction.) In addition, forty-three parole officers were contacted for further information on youth whose school records were in question. The follow-up study identified only 24 youth (3.2% of the total population) who completed a traditional high …
