Training is often the first intervention child welfare agencies use to address critical workforce development issues. This QIC-Tip aims to answer child welfare agency leaders’ questions about effective training strategies to increase knowledge, enhance skills, and improve job performance. This fact sheet highlights public K-12 teacher and student diversity in the Mountain West states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. We explore data from Michael Hansen and Diana Quintero’s “Mountain West states face growing teacher diversity gaps” a 2018 Brookings Institution report. Specifically, we explore the teacher and student population in Mountain West states by race, revealing a disproportionate gap between students of color and teachers of color.

Diversifying the library workforce is challenging, with the graduation data of library and information science degrees not representing equity in demographics for diverse populations. Is this the reason for the lack of diversity among library staff or are recruitment practices not based on measurable performance standards? Both questions call upon the library and information science (LIS) profession to address diverse staffing issues to remedy these challenges.

Gender And Performance In Public Organizations: A Research Synthesis And Research Agenda, Sanghee Park

This study examines the variations among empirical findings of gender effects on the performance of public organizations; and identifies avenues for future efforts in the scholarship of gender and public administration. The meta-analysis using 72 studies published between 1999 and 2017 demonstrates that studies reporting statistical significance of female leadership and gender representation in the workforce tend to find a positive impact on performance. Study characteristics such as policy types/areas, time scopes, geographical context consistently affect the findings of gender effects, while the variance in measurement strategies and publication status do not make a difference in empirical evidence.
