Along with many other psychologists and sociologists, I am alarmed by the rapid increase in divorce rates. Toffler, in Future Shock, suggests one result of increasing technology might be the break up of the basic family unit. Gone are the days of the average couple meeting and settling down in the same town they have always lived in, surrounded by a secure and stable milieu.
