In Douglas County, Nebraska the Democratic Party controls a majority according to the registration rolls, and yet the County rarely appears in the Democratic column after all the ballots are counted.It is a majority party on paper only; the raw material for building electoral victory is present, but the finished product is seldomly realized.The natural question which comes to mind is: Where do the Democrats disappear to on election day?

The present study concerns college students in particular, the attitudes they hold toward both their society and their own personal life within that society, and how these attitudes affect their behavior. The six specific variables being dealt with are libertinism, religious conservatism, political activism, personal anomie, systemic anomie, and probusiness. These are viewed from the perspective that the attitudes and opinions held by the students will influence their behavior. Specifically, this perspective views feelings of anomie or alienation (the two terms will be used interchangeably throughout) as affecting the religious, political, and libertine views and behavior of the students. Entrepreneurship And Economic Development: A Critique Of The Theory, Rhoda E. Howard-Hassmann

This thesis is a criticism of the "entrepreneurial school" of economic development, which contends that a major cause of underdevelopment in the Third World is the poor "entrepreneurial spirit" in these areas. The entrepreneurial spirit consists of certain values and behaviour which it is presumed existed in the West at the time of its development. To test the validity of this theory empirical evidence on entrepreneurs is examined; this evidence includes historical data on the West, especially the United States and France, and twenty-one area studies of entrepreneurs in the Third World.
