This research seeks to understand how conflict transformation can be furthered by the inclusion of women in peace processes, as affirmed by the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, through engagement with Conflict Transformation Education (CTE). This intervention proposes a community-centered CTE workshop in Afghan refugee communities in Pakistan, following the efforts of displaced Afghan women in conducting community peace efforts, including running schools within and outside refugee camps and the provision of humanitarian aid (Rostami-Povey, 2007; “The Future,” 2021). Political polarization in the USA has been rapidly increasing since the 1990s. During that same time period, demographic data has shown both a growing population of religious “nones” who no longer identify with a faith tradition and a declining influence for churches and church leaders as the political identities of American Christians becomes more and more central to who they are. The program allows individuals who make less than $125,000 a year and families under $250,000 relieve up to $10,000 of their loan debt.
