Examining Self-Monitoring And Neuroticism As Predictors And Self-Efficacy As An Outcome Of Authentic Leadership, Richa Chaudhary, Chinmay Panda

The present study explores the role of personality traits of neuroticism and self-monitoring as determinants of authentic leadership, and self-efficacy as an outcome using a sample of 300 employees from automobile and heavy engineering companies in India. Support for the study hypotheses was mixed. Although the effect of neuroticism on authentic leadership was negative, the relationship was not significant. The trait of self-monitoring showed significant positive association with the ratings of authentic leadership. With regard to the outcomes of authentic leadership, the results provided support for the positive relationship between authentic leadership and self-efficacy. The Characteristics Of Effective Leadership Perceptions Among Immigrants From The Former Soviet Union In Israel, Alexander Zibenberg

The study focuses on the changing of perceptions of effective leadership in organizations as a result of transition from one culture to another. The sample consisted of groups of 132 immigrants and 189 native Israelis. First, the research compares perceptions of effective leadership among Israeli natives with those of immigrants to Israel from the former Soviet Union. Then the study shows that some perceptions of the 1.5 generations of immigrants are more similar to those of native Israelis than to perceptions of the first-generation immigrants. Studies of team performance in business simulations have not investigated the effect of a “star member” of the team on team performance outcomes. This article reports the findings of a study examining the role of team composition variables, team function variables and the effect of a star player on team score in an undergraduate business simulation. As hypothesized, team performance is associated with the performance of a single outstanding player. An Empirical Investigation Of Group Acceptance Using The Big Five Personality Domains, Arpita Joardar, Linda M. Matthews

In this paper, we examine task-based and relationship-based group acceptances of a newcomer from the perspective of personality theory. We used policy-capturing with an MBA student sample for our study. As predicted, our findings indicated that task-based group acceptance was affected by a newcomer’s perceived conscientiousness, openness, neuroticism, and extraversion, while relationship-based group acceptance was influenced by his/her perceived openness, neuroticism, and agreeableness. However, we failed to find support for the effect of perceived extraversion on relationship-based group acceptance. The implications for groups and suggestions for future research directions are discussed.
