Acute Induced Scurvy: Implications For Covid-19 And The Cytokine Storm, Chawki Belhadi
Acute Induced Scurvy: Implications For Covid-19 And The Cytokine Storm, Chawki Belhadi
Field Notes: A Journal of Collegiate Anthropology
Using an evolutionary genetic disease model, this review considers Vitamin C (VC) and its potential for treating COVID-19 (CV-19). The model’s validity rests on VC’s potent antioxidant property and the mutation sustained by the primate ancestor (est.) 61 MYA that left humans unable to produce VC. The result is humans cannot -by diet or oral supplementation- achieve plasma VC concentrations typical of vitamin C synthesizers. This may leave humans chronically vulnerable to infectious disease (hypoascorbemia). VC deficiency can become more acute during severe disease (anascorbemia) and, because of the relationship between disease severity and oxidative stress, can intensify the oxidative …
The Spatial Prevalence And Associated Factors Of Opioid Overdose Mortality In Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Andrew Schendl
The Spatial Prevalence And Associated Factors Of Opioid Overdose Mortality In Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Andrew Schendl
Theses and Dissertations
Mortality from opioid overdose has become the leading cause of non-natural death in Milwaukee County, WI in recent years. In order to better understand the opioid epidemic and formulate pro-active responses to the crisis at the local level, this study examines the spatial prevalence and associated factors of opioid overdoses that end in mortality in Milwaukee, WI using the spatial econometrics model. The social determinants of health framework is used to identify the potential related socioeconomic factors associated with opioid abuse. Using principal component analysis, 6 primary components were identified from the chosen social determinants and used as explanatory variables …
Geospatial Clustering And Hot Spot Detection Of Covid-19 Incidence In 2020: A Global Analysis, Munazza Fatima, Sana Arshad, Ibtisam Butt, Saba Arshad
Geospatial Clustering And Hot Spot Detection Of Covid-19 Incidence In 2020: A Global Analysis, Munazza Fatima, Sana Arshad, Ibtisam Butt, Saba Arshad
International Journal of Geospatial and Environmental Research
Emergence and spread of Covid-19 initiated diversified researches based on spatial analysis in visualization, exploration, and modelling of this infection. This short communication is an attempt to comprehend the geographic distribution and spatial clustering of Covid-19 in year 2020. Main objective is to spatially analyze Covid-19 incidence rates, identification of hotspots and clusters outliers at global level. Monthly data of reported cases were taken from World Health Organization dashboard and situation reports. Incidence rate was calculated for each country for each month. Spatial autocorrelation techniques of Global Moran are I and Anselian Local Moran’s I were used to examine the …

ABSTRACTFACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE HEALTH SEEKING BEHAVIOR AND DEGREE OF HEALTH SERVICE UTILIZATION OF ETHIOPIAN IMMIGRANTS LIVING IN ONE OF THE MIDWEST CITIES OF THE UNITED STATES: A MIXED METHODS
Immigrants have a significantly higher prevalence of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and worse health outcomes than native-born individuals in the United States. The disproportionate adverse outcomes have been associated with structural, systemic, and socioeconomic inequalities and individuals’ Health-Seeking Behavior (HSB) and patters of Health Service Utilization (HSU). The purpose of this study was twofold. First, the survey explored (a) factors influencing the HSB of Ethiopian immigrants …
Adoption Of A Self-Care Therapy Mobile App: Application Of Uses And Gratification Theory, Self-Efficacy, And Response Efficacy, Sue Lim
Theses and Dissertations
This study examines factors that influence people’s decision to adopt a self-care therapy chatbot utilizing the uses and gratification theory, self-efficacy, and response efficacy frameworks. Existing literature has shown a large gap between supply and demand of mental health services as well as major barriers that prevent people from seeking services. Therapy chatbots offer the potential to address the gap and the barriers. This research used Woebot, a widely used and clinical evaluated therapy bot, and examined the influence of 6 uses and obtained gratification variables, two self-efficacy scales, and response efficacy on intentions of use. Quantitative analysis of the …
