As institutions increasingly embrace personalized and flexible learning experiences, a parallel emphasis on assessment practices becomes imperative for a cohesive educational journey. Research findings reveal heightened student engagement and satisfaction in a flipped classroom, with a preference for blended learning. However, educators’ express concerns about time commitments and institutional support. The study emphasizes the need for personalized assessment practices and places the responsibility on educators and institutions to cultivate flexible students. The article is devoted the portrait phenomenon, its study in literary studies, the issues of its illumination in words (ekphrasis), the writer's image style, etc. Also, the phenomenon of portrait-ekphrasis, descriptive and explanatory descriptions of portraits, ekphrastic expressions in portraits are studied. Portrait-ekphrasis are analyzed on the example of French writer Amin Maalouf's work "Samarcande" and its Uzbek translation, Germaine de Staal's "Corinne ou l’Italie" and its Russian translation. Through the examples presented in these works, it is scientifically proved that the features of portrait-ekphrasis are expressed through various comparative phraseologisms, similes, metaphors, stable combinations, expressions and language units.
