The purpose of this study was to examine the level of staff preparedness towards fire disaster in University of Jos Library. Survey research method was adopted for the study. The measuring instrument comprised of questionnaire and interview. Out of the 106 copies of questionnaire distributed 104 (98.11%) were filled, returned and found suitable for use. After-which simple frequency tables, percentages, means and weighted averages were used to analyse the results. For the interview, a face-to-face interactive session was held between the researchers and the University Librarian on issues of Disaster Management Plan in the Library. Libraries and archives have become increasingly reliant on student employees to perform duties essential to the daily work of making cultural heritage materials accessible to patrons. This article details how students are recruited, trained, managed, and mentored from the perspective of supervisors at the Digital Library of Georgia. Topics discussed include hiring procedures, training techniques, work assigned to undergraduate and graduate students, the handling of archival materials, digital imaging, metadata, and social media. The article will also examine methods for creating a rewarding and educational work environment for students that promotes the library profession.

Learning about the theory and practice of intersectional feminism played an important role in my development as a librarian and a library director, and the ongoing study of feminism continues to be integral to my leadership work. Th e definition of feminism that I prefer is the concise and powerful statement by bell hooks: “feminism seeks to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression.” While I did not attend a library and information science graduate program with the express intention of becoming a library director, that is where I find myself.
