The 2021 Washington Library Association (WLA) Conference’s shift from in-person to virtual was a decision that felt appropriate and not at all surprising, given the uncertainty surrounding large in-person events due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We, a group of three early-career librarians at Central Washington University (CWU), had been eager to set off on a mini road trip together to bond, gain insight into the field of librarianship, and network with our peers at other institutions. Professional Development And Performance Evaluation For Cataloguers In Nigeria: A Roadmap For Performance Management System, Ifeoma Stella Njoku Phd

The study investigates professional development, performance evaluation and management systems of cataloguers in university libraries. The descriptive survey method was adopted for the research and the population of study consists of 51 cataloguers in 10 university libraries in South East zone of Nigeria. The questionnaire was distributed to 51 cataloguers. A total of 40 copies were returned giving a 78 percent response rate. Z-test analysis was used to answer the research questions. Findings of the study show that exposing cataloguers to a course (mean = 3.97), increases a cataloguer's desire to excel and grow on the job by intimating them …

Students pursuing degrees in STEM fields, including agriculture and related sciences, need to develop discipline-specific information skills in order to be successful in their educational pursuits and to meet tomorrow’s challenges in their future work as agriculture professionals. Oftentimes, information literacy programs are situated in general education or liberal arts courses, leaving the discipline-specific courses to incorporate information literacy only when and where possible. As STEM librarians, we know this is not sufficient, but the challenge of building a STEM-specific information literacy program can be overwhelming, especially when instructors have little time to incorporate any additional content into their already-packed …

The article describes the effort to preserve the artifacts of a unique organization: video recordings of the President’s Peace Commission symposia held at St. Mary's University. Since cultural and educational institutions preserve their history with varying degrees of success, libraries can provide an important link to preservation. In addition to describing the reasons and process for coordinating with the St. Mary’s Learning Resources Center for videotaping of panel sessions, the original cataloging of these videotapes and incorporation into the Louis J.
