Eatonton is home to several prolific authors, including Alice Walker. Partnering with Georgia Writers Museum, Eatonton-Putnam County Library has established the Alice Walker Mini-Museum. This space showcases the literary works of Alice Walker and provides a space for students to draw inspiration for writing when visiting the library. AZRLS is thrilled to share the museum with the community and visitors are welcome to tour the space during regular library hours

Librarians’ Attitudes Toward Providing Environmental Education Services In Georgia, Xiaoai Ren

This article reports on the findings from a survey of the Georgia Library Association (GLA) members on their attitudes toward providing environmental education services in libraries, and their perceptions of the role libraries should play in developing environmentally sustainable community. Information on the environmentally sustainable practices within libraries was also collected, along with the libraries' environmental education services. Most respondents agreed that it is vital to integrate environmentally sustainable practices into library operations and provide environmental education services. Georgia’s public libraries have a rich history demonstrating the commitment of Georgia’s leaders and citizenry to free access to information. This updated timeline is a compilation of historical data on public libraries in Georgia and a history of the Georgia Public Library Service and shows the development of Georgia’s libraries from small collections, sometimes in people’s homes, to the diverse collections of multiple media we have access to today. It begins with the first known subscription library created in Savannah and ends with the current status of public library service in the state.
