The purpose of this paper is to investigate the present status of RFID application,benefitsrealisedafterimplementing RFID, problems faced during RFID adoption and its implementation in the libraries andinformationcentresofNorthern India. The survey method of research was adopted in this research. In order to assess the required information about the implementation of RFID technology from the librarian/Inchargeof the library of the nine selected institutions of Northern India, the data was collected through a questionnaire method. A citation analysis study was carried out on the citations appended in the end of History discipline Ph.D. dissertations to ascertain what types of documents are the most frequently used in the research process, the most commonly consulted core journals and obsolescence rate of the journals and books. The study analysed 8488 citations appended in the 36 Ph.D. theses of History discipline submitted to Panjab University, Chandigarh, for the award of doctoral degree during 2002-2012. The study presents a survey of the information seeking behavior of the journalists in north India. It highlights that the journalists mostly use the newspaper libraries once a week Majority of them visit the library to consult the reference books. Most of the respondents are satisfied with the behavior of the library staff and they opine that the newspapers should be digitised.
