Abstract

Game-based instructional programs can provide creative, hands-on learning opportunities while protecting valuable collections. This presentation will reflect on the experience of using game-based instructional techniques to successfully develop an Escape Game that engaged a campus community with archival sources and authentic learning. Sensory game immersion provided authentic engagement with the materiality of collections, their historical context, and the deeper critical narratives within the collection. Tasks were designed to engage learning objectives that explored archival conceptualization, discovery, and interpretation. This poster will discuss how library support for article processing charge (APC) funds has changed since the first fund (as documented by SPARC) was established in 2005. The paper will also cover insights from one institution's implementation of an APC fund in 2018 and how that fund is serving as one method in a suite of tools to engage the campus community on the topic of open access more generally.

  • Cataloger’s judgement is essential
  • The Bibliographic Format is “Visual Materials”
  • Usually title is the main entry and most of the time cataloger supplies a title

This training introduced the large-scale approach to describing multi-page digital compound objects. It was developed to disambiguate and clarify the new approach of describing compound objects in Project client/ContentDm. The training focused on important metadata fields, provided practical examples and instructed student assistants and staff how to apply the new rules consistently across all collections. The training session was followed by hands-on activities and discussion.

The implementation of Coastal Carolina University’s Data Management Services program is explored in this presentation. Our library continued to see growth in data management support requests from researchers, so we felt the need to programmatically develop data management services to serve those needs. We assembled a Data Management Services Working Group to examine what types of services were being offered at other M1 institutions. In 2020, 10 womxn from a variety of racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds formed an unique support network for faculty librarians hired between June 2019-July 2020 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries (Fig 1 & 2 & Table 1).
