The study examines the level of emotional intelligence and its elements among university librarians as perceived by the library professionals in the institutions of Higher learning in North India. The study follows survey method employing structured questionnaire. Moreover, a multitude of sources like books, journals, databases, and websites of Universities were consulted to get additional insights. There is an above average level of emotional intelligence perceived for the university librarians with most positive perception for the Delhi University. Job performance consists of a set of employees’ behaviours that are perceived to be in agreement with organizational goals that can be measured, monitored and assessed as an achievement at an individual level. The librarian’s job performance is that aspect of work behaviour that is of relevance to the library’s success. This paper presents findings from a self-rating questionnaire on the levels of job performance of librarians in universities in one region of Nigeria.
