International House Scrapbooks

This inaugural scrapbook details the beginning of Jacksonville State Teachers College's International House program, led by James H. Jones, a professor of French. The scrapbook contains publications about France's economic situation immediately following WWII, photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and more. The program began with four French students brought to the college to interact with and teach French to American students. Other French individuals, such as Andree Alvernhe and Felicie Astrue, were brought over from France to allow students to experience French cuisine and culture.
