The Khong-Chi-Mun was a partially realized irrigation project in Northeast Thailand under the “Greening Isaan” plan of development. Afterward, the Thai government revived it in 2012 under the new name “Khong-Loei-Chi-Mun” (KLCM) This new mega-project aimed to improve water access to the region to increase agricultural rice production and answer to a rising worldwide food demand. Unity In Diversity: Exploring Central Thai Speaker’S Attitudes Towards Thai Dialects Through A Linguistic Approach, Tristan Aidan Pennell

At least 60.9% of people in Thailand speak a minority language natively. Despite a history of political nationalism suppressing dialects and minority languages, Thais seem to accept this linguistic diversity. This study explored attitudes of Central Thai speakers towards the main dialects, generally and by comparing two age groups: 18-30 and 45+. A Verbal-Guise technique-based survey gaining 145 respondents was conducted, with 76 of the younger age group and 69 of the older age group. The survey asked Central Thai people to evaluate recordings of three Thai dialects: Northern, North-eastern and Southern. Using Symbolic Domination, a theory analysing power relations …

In the mountainous region of Sapa, Vietnam, the Hmong community navigates the complex interplay of preserving their cultural identity amidst immense pressure to modernize. This thesis, centered on Hmong women, delves into their selective adaptation to contemporary challenges, particularly in education and employment. Using document research, a survey, and fieldwork this study draws from both historical data and firsthand accounts. These findings highlight significant disparities in educational attainment and employment opportunities when compared to the national average. This research argues the history of the Chinese Association in Thailand (CAT) is strongly connected to the transformation of self-identity among the pro-Republic of China Thai Chinese. Since the foundation of CAT in 1907 by the Tongmenghui members, the association itself represents the rise of Chinese nationalism amongst ethnic Chinese in Siam. Employing qualitative interviews and document research, the study investigates the lifestyles of these contemporary nomads. The research reveals a finding: despite roaming abroad, digital nomads maintain a strong connection to their national identity. It is presumed that folk beliefs and traditional folklore have always constituted the spiritual foundation of Vietnamese people in present day society. The purpose of this research is to investigate the existence of family institution in the context of changes in Korean society, as well as the societal reflections that come from them and the impact of education on family institutions. The methodology of this study is documentary research, which entails locating papers on current social issues in Korea, as well as content analysis, which examines scenes and dialogue in the series "Sky Castle".
