The objective of this paper was to look at the cultural, social, and environmental of faith-based INGOs on Guatemala society within the framework of participatory development, which is the aim to include aid recipients in development projects to ensure long-run sustainability and stability. I related the evolution of faith-based INGOs to the historical eras that Latin America has experienced since the age of colonization, namely the time of the domination of the Roman Catholic church, the establishment of Spanish missions in Latin America, liberalism secularism, and neoliberalism.
