Population Neuroscience Approaches to Minority Discrimination and Health

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The primary purpose of our research is to explore the effects of social exclusion and discrimination on the mental and physical health and wellbeing of sexual minorities (gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals). Addressing this complicated issue is a team effort, so participation in this project will provide a novel set of research experiences for participating undergraduates.

It’s important because in today’s society, women are constantly getting degraded compared to men. It’s time to end the prejudice and see everybody as equals. Eight states have banned Affirmative Action due to the premise that preferential treatment of race in a college application is not fair to all students. The elimination of Affirmative Action policies has caused a significant decline in diversity at major public universities. To counteract this ban, many post-secondary institutions have implemented alternate plans to maintain their diversity. Consequently, Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) have experienced a resurgence in their admissions.

The Persistence Of Working Poor Families In A Changing U.S. Job Market: An Integrative Review Of The Literature, Richard J. Torraco

This article explores the persistence of working poor families in the United States— families that live on the threshold of poverty despite at least one family member working full-time. The persistence of poverty in the United States has been exacerbated by recent changes in the job market that have altered the composition and availability of jobs due to technological unemployment, the polarization of jobs, declining job quality, and stagnation in job growth.
