Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Introduction: Cloud computing is an innovative paradigm meeting the user's demand for accessing a shared source comprising adjustable computational sources, such as servers and applied programs. An increase in the costs of information technology, emerging problems with updating software and hardware, and expanded storage volume, make it possible to utilize cloud-based health information cases. Organizations have focused on cloud platform-based services as a new opportunity to develop the software industry for healthcare. The aim of the research is to conduct a bibliometric study of the scientific productions on "health cloud".

As library users increasingly rely on mobile applications and responsive websites to access information, it has become imperative that libraries accommodate these needs. The tasks of building this type of resource may seem too expensive, time-consuming, and require the outsourcing of technology development. The presenters will showcase how this can be achieved on a small scale using existing staff, innovative funding resources, and affordable training. The poster will outline the presenters’ experiences designing a conceptual discovery framework, interactive website, and iOS application for health sciences students. More specifically, our app will address training students to answer clinical queries using library …

In fiscal year 2016-17, University of Louisville Libraries began the transition from Plone Content Management System (CMS) to Springshare’s LibGuides CMS for websites hosting and management. This transition provided Kornhauser Health Sciences Library the opportunity to fully redesign our website to be more user-friendly, efficient, and visually appealing. To evaluate the efficacy of the new website in meeting these goals, we designed a usability study examining both versions of the site for efficiency and accuracy of information retrieval. Approved by the IRB, this usability study was primarily administered in survey format; as participants from multiple health science disciplines completed specified …

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a systematic approach to clinical decision-making, where medical practitioners use clinical evidence from current research to decide the best course of treatment. EBM is an essential concept in medical education, and medical librarians play an instrumental role in training students to answer clinical questions. This framework was designed to help students structure and categorize their clinical questions, so that they find the answers needed to determine treatment and/or outcomes.
