In the months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the International Media Fund was formed. Lead by journalist Marvin L. Stone, the organization was designed to help establish independent media in the former Communist bloc. Though the International Media Fund worked throughout Eastern Europe, this historical research focuses on the organization’s efforts in Croatia. This thesis offers the first unearthing of Stone’s role in the International Media Fund and details about the work the man and the organization did in attempting to establish a free and unfettered press in Croatia.

When a former black editor says he was told that blacks do not care about news by his white boss and a black deejay is told that his commentary is too hard hitting and not to go to an event featuring a black militant leader by his white boss, these personal accounts could be extrapolated to mean that there may still be a world filled with white privilege and an ensuing hegemonic bifurcation in a Communication Studies context. Esl Students' Language Anxiety In In-Class Oral Presentations, Yusi Chen

This case study aims to explore connections between ESL students’ speaking-in-class anxiety and their presentation performance, factors causing oral anxiety during presentations, and strategies to regulate L2 students’ speaking anxiety in presentations. Findings of this research contribute to the investigation of speaking-in-class anxiety from non-English major L2 students. Three Chinese ESL students enrolled in the INTO program at Marshall University individually gave two presentations in speaking classes. Triangulated data sources were collected to delve into three research questions. The results suggest that L2 students’ anxiety forms mental blocks during presentations, but it has less influence on their presentation performance. Based …
