This chapter explores the value of creating a mission statement to help redefine the academic library's curriculum center in the context of the current dynamic teacher education environment. The mission statement and related texts, such as vision, values, and guiding principle statements, define the purpose of the center for its constituents. It acts as a bridge between communities of practice and organizations, demonstrating the relationship of the center to the teacher education program, the academic library, and the college or university.
