Data Privacy is an active practice that requires users to actively participate in informed consenting for their personal data protection. Part of that process is gathering information about the companies that request access to users data. At Purdue University, librarians worked with an undergraduate researcher to survey business students who had completed an internship or co-op to determine their information use during these experiences. We asked students about the information tasks they completed, the information source types they used, where they learned to use these sources, and their perceived difficulty in finding information sources. This lightning talk will present a brief overview of our findings.

Librarians have approached community engagement and outreach in many different ways. Whether presenting to members of community groups or hosting events and tours, librarians have actively worked to promote and inspire the use of information resources in the communities they serve. Due to the impact of COVID-19, methods of community engagement and outreach have changed immensely, calling for new and innovative approaches to creating, connecting, and engaging communities. Has your library struggled with how to roll out or sunset a new database? Ours has. We use emails, blog posts and peer to peer training, but haven't really been happy with the results. In a culture of assessment and gaming, it was time to try something else. This year we incorporated Quizizz and Kahoot into our rollouts with much success. I'll share our assessments as well as things we learned about the process.
