This article examines the genesis and the expansion of salafi movements during reformation era. Using a social movement’s perspective with three main factors on social movements; political opportunity structure, framing process, and resources mobilization theory, this research aims to reveal the factor of salafi movement’s growing. The research is use a qualitative approach with a field research method, where the researchers directly observes to the people being studied and try to examine any subjective experiences in the sociological view. This research focuses on the construction of Jember city identity in the network society era. This research revealed that the construction process of Jember city identity is complex. By using Manuel Castells’ theory about territorial identity especially in network society, this paper intends to interpret Jember Fashion Carnival (JFC) as a project identity in the discourse of network society. Basically, social stratification does not occur in a total institution like detention. If it does, it only occurs between the officers and the convicts. This study discusses model of measurement to assess the effectiveness of programs of corporate social responsibility (CSR) held by corporation of mines, oil and gas, and geothermal in relation with poverty alleviation within the surrounding communities. The case study is conducted in a geothermal company in West Java. Results of study indicate that measurements of CSR should be developed in accordance with the scale of program, and should as well make use micro indicators which are relevant with elements of poverty. The priyayi played a vital role in leading the Indonesian community during the colonial era. The same applies to Madura society. During the colonial era, power wielded by the priyayi was constricted on the basis of Madura culture and was strengthened by the bureaucratic power structure at both the village and district/ city level. This was manifested in such ways as serving as a klébun or bupati.
