This paper reviews the requirements for buildings that store inactive and archival records. It then reviews the requirements for green buildings that meet LEED standards. Lastly, it discusses whether it is possible to build greener buildings for archival and records storage facilities.

This presentation discusses a proposal to improve upon current advocacy efforts being made at the St. John's Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library located on its Manhattan campus (formerly the New York College of Insurance Library). Proposed strategies include: creation of an archival independent study course, applying for grant monies; developing public/ private partnerships with industry; and employing open source cataloging software such as the Archivist's Toolkit.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada is currently conducting hearings across Canada, and its records will need to be archived. The critical importance of preserving and providing access to such an archive will be discussed in this paper. Best practices for this archive will be exemplified by looking at the experiences of archivists working with truth commissions and international criminal justice tribunals in Africa. Additionally, Australian recommendations concerning aboriginal access to government records will be reviewed. Considerations related to aboriginal oral records will be noted, since these records are at the heart of the archives of the TRC …

While the ramifications of minimal standards processing for practice are well-documented, the theoretical questions which Greene and Meissner's 2005 article "More Product, Less Process" raises are not. This article seeks to address the broader ideological and theoretical questions involved in recent minimal standards processing recommendations through analysis of Greene and Meissner’s original article and the immediate responses and case studies which it generated, in order to relate this body of literature to theory-driven notions of archival administration.4 By identifying theoretical issues in writings on MPLP rather than focusing on practice alone, it is possible to move beyond the pejorative, reductive …
