This paper reviews the requirements for buildings that store inactive and archival records. It then reviews the requirements for green buildings that meet LEED standards. Lastly, it discusses whether it is possible to build greener buildings for archival and records storage facilities.

This presentation discusses a proposal to improve upon current advocacy efforts being made at the St. John's Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Library located on its Manhattan campus (formerly the New York College of Insurance Library). Proposed strategies include: creation of an archival independent study course, applying for grant monies; developing public/ private partnerships with industry; and employing open source cataloging software such as the Archivist's Toolkit.
