University campuses across the country have been fundamentally disrupted by COVID-19. At DePaul, courses moved to remote delivery through the end of Summer Quarter and almost all university operations are being conducted remotely. Students, parents, faculty and staff are eager for some certainty about what the future holds. Will in-person classes at DePaul resume in the fall? Will COVID-19 permanently alter the way the university operates? While many details still aren’t known, DePaul President A. The Kingdom of Hawai’i was annexed by the United States of America in 1898 and was given statehood in 1959. Prior to its annexation, the Kingdom of Hawai’i had a legitimate functioning government with sovereign recognition from many in the international arena, including the United States, as early as 1840. This article analyzes current and past definitions of the state and sovereignty, as well as precedence from international law, to determine if the United States violated the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Hawai’i before and during the annexation process. The data contained in this dataset cover the 2016 Presidential Primary and Caucus election season. Results are reported for Democratic and Republican candidates only. Data were sourced from finalized (certified) state election board results wherever possible. All data is reported at the county level unless otherwise noted. Refer to the 2016 Primary Election Data Sources document for a full list of data sources.
Results for Alaska, Colorado (Democratic only), Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, and Washington state are for these states caucuses. The vote totals reported are raw numbers of votes.
Data for North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming is not included …

The Perceptions Of Self And Others: Examining The Effect Identity Adoption Has On Immigrant Attitudes Toward Affirmative Action Policies In The United States, Tiffiany O. Howard

While there exist several studies devoted to evaluating the political attitudes of US citizens, very little has been done to distinguish between the political attitudes of immigrants and citizens of the same racial or ethnic group. Using data from the Multi-City Study of Urban Inequality, 1992-94, this study evaluates the role identity adoption plays in highlighting the distinctions which exist between the political attitudes of immigrants and those of US citizens from the same racial/ethnic group. The results reveal that despite pronounced cultural distinctions between immigrants and US citizens, in many cases race and ethnicity are important unifiers on opinions …
