Cement production at Yandev, Nigeria commenced in 1980 without an environmental impact assessment to ascertain the extent of damage production activities would bring to bear on the physical conditions of the host environment. This study was carried out to provide baseline data on the rate and pattern of plume rise from the factory. Field survey was employed for primary data collation, while secondary data (climatic and factory data) were acquired from NIMET Makurdi Office and Dangote Cement Plc. Plume rate was estimated using the Gaussian (Mathematical) Model; Kriging, using Arc GIS, was adopted for modelling the pattern of plume dispersion. …

The paper examines tourism as potential source of waste generation in urban and rural areas of Neamt county. An assessment method is proposed and the final result is mapping the process at local scale. In order to analyze the tourism impact on local waste management system, the waste generated by tourists (estimated values) is related to local household waste generation. This paper outlines the disparities within cities and communes and it also analyses the bad practices of tourists supported by field observations

Development Of Waste Collection Services On Rural Territory From Neamț County, Florin C. Mihai, Liviu Apostol

This paper analyzes the expansion of sanitation services in rural areas after the closure and rehabilitation of rural dumpistes having as deadline July 16, 2009. Following this period local authorities are forced to collect and dispose the waste generated in urban landfills from proximity until the transfer stations will be operational. Most of the rural population has no access to waste collection services, waste generated and uncollected are uncontrolled disposed polluting the local environment. Development of sanitation services is a basic condition for an efficient implementation of integrated waste management system at county level.
