This paper reports on a study of the dynamics of a Research-Practice Partnership (RPP) oriented around design, specifically the co-design model. The RPP is focused on supporting elementary school computer science (CS) instruction by involving paraprofessional educators and teachers in curricular co-design. A problem of practice addressed is that few elementary educators have backgrounds in teaching CS and have limited available instructional time and budget for CS. The co-design strategy entailed highlighting CS concepts in the mathematics curriculum during classroom instruction and designing computer lab lessons that explored related ideas through programming. Students in introductory programming classes (CS1) generally have a difficult time learning the rules of programming. Although the general concepts of programming are relatively easy to learn, it can be difficult to learn what exactly can be typed in what order, which is known as syntax. To attempt to help students overcome this barrier, a study was conducted that introduced exercises into a CS1 class which taught the programming syntax in simple steps. CSILM is an online interactive learning management system designed to help students learn fundamental concepts of computer science. Apart from learning computer science modules using multimedia, this online system also allows students talk to professors using communication mediums like chat and implemented web analytics, enabling teachers to track student behavior and see student’s interest in learning the modules,. Integrating social media in to the existing portal also makes it possible for students to share the modules they have created, helping students work together.

Computer science is a discipline that is increasing in importance and value in our society, yet we are still failing to graduate a sufficient number of students to keep up with the demand required in the United States economy. We research several ways to retain students. We also discuss ways to increase students’ interest in the major, i.e., those who normally would not know about computer science. We discuss ways to increase female participation as well as overall participation in the major.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is spending substantial resources to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the United States. The ultimate goal of these programs is to produce students with a better knowledge of math and science and who are more likely to pursue careers in STEM fields. Interactive learning modules can be used in the classroom environment for effective learning.
This study examines the learning preferences of Logan High School (located in Logan, Utah) students and evaluates the impacts of using interactive learning modules with classroom lectures compared to other traditional methods of teaching.

In this report, the programs developed for the analysis of simulated data in multiplex chromatography are written in the ASYST language. The integration of the program modules into a menu-driven, user-friendly prototype program is outlined. The program is developed to allow for flexibility and easy upgrading of the code.
This report examines the calculation procedures potentially useful in multiplex chromatography. Analysis of the mutliplex chromatograms is done by three mathematical methods, Cross-Correlation, Hadamard Transform and Fast Fourier Transform.
