Water Quality Assessment In The Occurrence Of Acanthaster Spp. (Crown-Of-Thorns Starfish, Cots) On Coral Reefs In Menjangan Island, Bali, Indonesia, Novia Arinda Pradisty, Eghbert Elvan Ampou, Rizki Hanintyo

Makara Journal of Science

Aquatic stressors are known to cause biological impairment that can result in biodiversity loss in several Marine Protected Areas (MPA), including in Menjangan Island, West Bali National Park. The objectives of this study were to correlate the changes in water quality parameters with the biological effect of Crown-of-Thorns starfish (CoTS) population dynamics and to assess the most applicable parameters for continuous environmental monitoring. Field observations and surveys were conducted three times in 2017, during the wet season, dry season and season transition, in order to assess the effect of seasonal variability. Redundancy Analysis (RDA) was performed to determine the relationship …

Hydrogeophysical Characterization And Imaging In The Mangrove Lakes Region Of Everglades National Park And Big Pine Key, Florida, Usa, Michael Eyob Kiflai

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Coastal groundwater aquifers are susceptible to saltwater intrusion from natural and anthropogenic sources. Everglades National Park (ENP) has been adversely impacted by past human activities that altered freshwater flow through the system. In Big Pine Key (BPK), the flat and low-lying topography less than 2m makes the freshwater lens vulnerable to tidal and storm surge events. This study investigated different inversion scenarios and used Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) and Electromagnetic (EM) survey to characterize the spatial and temporal change of the groundwater chemistry and image the aquifers. In Big Pine Key, Hurricane Irma made landfall as a category 4 storm …

Improving Coverage Method Of Autonomous Drones For Environmental Monitoring, Ömür Yildirim, Revna Acar Vural, Klaus Diepold

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

With the rapid developments of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), usage of UAVs is increasing to bring autonomy for complicated processes such as environmental monitoring. Because of the complexity of the problem, environmental monitoring tasks are highly demanding in terms of time and resources. To reduce expensive costs of operations, improvements on autonomous observation capabilities has a key role. In this work, we offer coverage improvements for our autonomous environmental monitoring system. We compared different path planning approaches to find out the optimum path planning solution. Simulation results showed that required task execution time and required resources are decreased by usage …
