© 2020, The Author(s). In this work, we propose a framelet method based on B-spline functions for solving nonlinear Volterra–Fredholm integro-differential equations and by involving Atangana–Baleanu fractional derivative, which can provide a reliable numerical approximation. The framelet systems are generated using the set of B-splines with high vanishing moments. We provide some numerical and graphical evidences to show the efficiency of the proposed method. The obtained numerical results of the proposed method compared with those obtained from CAS wavelets show a great agreement with the exact solution. We confirm that the method achieves accurate, efficient, and robust measurement.

© 2020, The Author(s). One of the ways of increasing recognition ability in classification problem is removing outlier entries as well as redundant and unnecessary features from training set. Filtering and feature selection can have large impact on classifier accuracy and area under the curve (AUC), as noisy data can confuse classifier and lead it to catch wrong patterns in training data. The common approach in data filtering is using proximity graphs. However, the problem of the optimal filtering parameters selection is still insufficiently researched. In this paper filtering procedure based on k-nearest neighbours proximity graph was used. Filtering parameters …

© 2020, The Author(s). Similarity measures have long been utilized in information retrieval and machine learning domains for multi-purposes including text retrieval, text clustering, text summarization, plagiarism detection, and several other text-processing applications. However, the problem with these measures is that, until recently, there has never been one single measure recorded to be highly effective and efficient at the same time. Thus, the quest for an efficient and effective similarity measure is still an open-ended challenge. This study, in consequence, introduces a new highly-effective and time-efficient similarity measure for text clustering and classification. Furthermore, the study aims to provide a …

This approach is limited by a reliance on self-report and a lack of interactivity with the target population. At the same time, excessive use of digital devices, known as digital addiction, has been recognized as an emergent issue. There is potential to apply the social norms approach to digital addiction and, in doing so, address some of the limitations of the social norms field. In this study, we trialled a social norms …

The Internet has made several giant leaps over the years, from a fixed to a mobile Internet, then to the Internet of Things, and now to a Tactile Internet. The Tactile Internet goes far beyond data, audio and video delivery over fixed and mobile networks, and even beyond allowing communication and collaboration among things. It is expected to enable haptic communications and allow skill set delivery over networks. Some examples of potential applications are tele-surgery, vehicle fleets, augmented reality and industrial process automation. Several papers already cover many of the Tactile Internet-related concepts and technologies, such as haptic codecs, applications, …

© 2018 The Authors Our knowledge includes irreducible tacit elements which are related to the individual's personal nature that go beyond what we can express, which makes it very difficult to formalize, communicate and share. As this tacit knowledge consists of either actions or personal attitudes, we propose an approach to acquisition of tacit knowledge based on an ontological model. The ontology is built top down by changing the actors’ cognitive focus from the focal to the subsidiary, or from the aim of an action to its detailed objectives. We also use explicitation interviews and self-confrontation techniques to identify the …

This paper is devoted to shedding some light on the advantages of using tight frame systems for solving some types of fractional Volterra integral equations (FVIEs) involved by the Caputo fractional order derivative. A tight frame or simply framelet, is a generalization of an orthonormal basis. A lot of applications are modeled by non-negative functions; taking this into account in this paper, we consider framelet systems generated using some refinable non-negative functions, namely, B-splines. The FVIEs we considered were reduced to a set of linear system of equations and were solved numerically based on a …

Ischemic stroke is categorized by either permanent or transient blood flow obstruction, impeding the distribution of oxygen and essential nutrients to the brain. In this study, we examined the neuroprotective effects of compound A3, a synthetic polyphenolic drug product, against ischemic brain injury by employing an animal model of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (p-MCAO). Ischemic stroke induced significant elevation in the levels of reactive oxygen species and, ultimately, provoked inflammatory cascade. Here, we demonstrated that A3 upregulated the endogenous antioxidant enzymes, such as glutathione s-transferase (GST), glutathione (GSH), and reversed the ischemic-stroke-induced nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation (LPO) …

Real-time flows using time division multiple access (TDMA) scheduling in cluster-based wireless sensor networks try to schedule more flows per time frame to minimize the schedule length to meet the deadline. The problem with the previously used cluster-based scheduling algorithm is that intra-cluster scheduling does not consider that the clusters may have internal or outgoing flows. Thus, intra-cluster scheduling algorithms do not utilize their empty time-slots and thus increase schedule length. In this paper, we propose a new intra-cluster scheduling algorithm by considering that clusters may have having internal or outgoing …

Traffic optimization normally improves flow conditions at the expense of increased vehicles’ emissions. This paper proposes a bi-objective optimization approach to address this situation. In contrast to existing literature, this study considers environmental and congestion impacts of Network Design Problems (NDPs) using the Markov chain traffic assignment approach instead of user equilibrium. The NDP model selectively reverses roads’ directions to improve network performance. The model is optimized by simultaneously minimizing maximum traffic density and total vehicles’ emissions cost using non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm. A realistic city example was used to demonstrate the approach’s efficiency. Results showed that a compromise solution …
