Preparation And Characterization Of The Lani0.6fe0.4o3-Δ Cathode For Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cell, Hang Liu, Bo Huang, Xin-Jian Zhu

Journal of Electrochemistry

The LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ as cathode material for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell was prepared using a combustion synthesis technique. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern showed that the single-phase LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ perovskite could be obtained after heat treatment at 600°C. The TEM and SEM images of the synthesized powders revealed that the grains were 50-100nm. According to the electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS), the polarization resistance of the symmetric cell LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ/ScSZ/LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ sintered at 1050°C was the smallest (0.70Ω?cm2, 0.27Ω?cm2 and 0.12Ω?cm2 at 750°C, 800°C and 850°C, respectively). In the presence of the Fe-Cr alloy interconnection at 750°C, the cathode performance showed that, with …

In this thesis, single and multi-layered graphene films were epitaxially grown on either Si-face or C-face of SiC single crystal substrates. The film growth conditions, such as decomposition temperatures and pressures, and their surface morphologies were optimized. These films were then characterized by using surface analysis tools including SEM, TEM, AFM evanescent wave microscopy and electron educed spectroscopy. In addition to studying graphene decomposed from SiC crystals, carbon nanotube material was fabricated using a floating catalyst technique. These carbon nanotube material was then studied for potential cathode applications in this thesis. Field emission properties of these cathodes was measured and …

Aerosol Jet Printing Of Lscf-Cgo Cathode For Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, Paul Gardner Jan 2011

Aerosol Jet Printing Of Lscf-Cgo Cathode For Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, Paul Gardner

Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology has attracted great attention due to advantages such as low emissions and high efficiency. In this work, solid oxide fuel cells were fabricated by incorporating functional layers deposited by a novel aerosol jet® printing method. The buffer and cathode layers were printed from gadolinium doped ceria (Ce0.9Gd0.1)O1.95 (CGO) and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 (LSCF) inks, respectively. The CGO layer was deposited on the sintered electrolyte and then LSCF was subsequently deposited onto the CGO layer. The polarization curves showed a 19% improvement in current density using LSCF as the cathode instead of LSM. Cathode grain size was …
