Chatbot personality has been demonstrated to influence user behavior, such as trust and intended engagement. However, previous research on chatbot-user personality congruence’s influence on user behavior is scant despite its significance in human-human conversations. This study explores the effect of chatbot-human personality trait congruence on user behavior in the context of a chatbot-based advising system. In this study, 54 college students interacted with chatbots with three different personalities (extraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness) and rated their trust, usage intention, and intended engagement with the chatbots. Additionally, 18 participants were interviewed to gain further insights into their perceptions and evaluations of the …

Syllabus: Solar Energy Systems And Building Design, Ho-Sung Kim
Sustainability Education Resources
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of solar building design and energy systems. Through project based study and possible field visits, students will explore the theory, technologies, applications, and benefits of solar design of buildings and discover how to utilize solar energy systems for residential and commercial buildings. Students will be required to research and document technology and complete a semester case study project in which they will examine various energy conservation aspects and economics underlying solar energy systems.

This paper describes our experiences and observations with the first version of a localization system that continuous tracks the indoor location of a large number of consumer mobile devices. Unlike past work that focuses principally on the accuracy of the location tracking algorithm, we study the performance of the localization system in terms of key additional metrics: scalability and energy-efficiency, which can sometimes conflict with the desire for high accuracy. To ensure that our solution can handle both Android and iOS-based mobile devices (& other closed mobile platforms), we adapt the conventional client-side fingerprinting-based localization approaches to develop a novel …

Climate Change and the Future of the American West: Exploring the Legal and Policy Dimensions (Summer Conference, June 7-9)
Presenter: Franz Litz, Climate Change Policy Coordinator, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
1 page and 28 slides.
Franz Litz will briefly describe the major climate change actions undertaken by the State of New York in recent years. He will place specific emphasis on the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a cooperative effort of 8 eastern states to implement a regional cap-and-trade program to reduce carbon emissions from the power sector. In addition, he will explore the potential for linking the eastern initiative to one or more western state programs in development.
Cohomology Of Buildings And Finiteness Properties Of An-Groups, Jacqueline Ramagge, Wayne W. Wheeler
Cohomology Of Buildings And Finiteness Properties Of An-Groups, Jacqueline Ramagge, Wayne W. Wheeler
Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)
Borel and Serre calculated the cohomology of the building associated to a reductive group and used the result to deduce that torsion-free S-arithmetic groups are duality groups. By replacing their group-theoretic arguments with proofs relying only upon the geometry of buildings, we show that Borel and Serre's approach can be modied to calculate the cohomology of any locally nite ane building. As an application we show that any nitely presented e An-group is a virtual duality group. A number of other niteness conditions for e An-groups are also established.

Application Of A Fuzzy Controller To Seismically Excited Nonlinear Buildings, Mohammed Al-Dawod, Bijan Samali, Kenny Kwok, Fazel Naghdy
Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)
Focuses on the benchmark control problems for seismically excited nonlinear buildings defined by Ohtori et al. (2000). This benchmark study focuses on three typical steel structures, 3-, 9- and 20-storey buildings designed for the SAC project for Los Angeles in the California region. The first stage of applying the fuzzy controller to this benchmark study for the 3-storey building is reported. The main advantage of the fuzzy controller is its inherent robustness and ability to handle the non-linear behaviour of the structure. This benchmark study is based on a number of evaluation criteria and control constraints and these limitations are …

The Rural Towns Program : Groundwater Modelling : The Merredin Catchment, J Matta
Resource management technical reports
Agriculture Western Australia (Agwest), as part of the Rural Towns Program, was engaged to test the application of a groundwater model for potential future management options against salinity for the Merredin townsite. This report illustrates some of the options that could be implemented to achieve the objective of salinity management.
A Haagerup Inequality For A1 X A1 And A2 Buildings, Jacqueline Ramagge, Guyan Robertson, Tim Steger
A Haagerup Inequality For A1 X A1 And A2 Buildings, Jacqueline Ramagge, Guyan Robertson, Tim Steger
Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)
Haagerup's inequality for convolvers on free groups may be interpreted as a result on A1 buildings, i.e. trees. Here are proved analogous inequalities for discrete groups acting freely on the vertices of A1 x A1 and A2 buildings. The results apply in particular to groups of typerotating automorphisms acting simply transitively on the vertices of such buildings. These results provide the first examples of higher rank groups with property (RD).

Triangle Buildings And Actions Of Type Iii 1/Q2, Jacqueline Ramagge, Guyan Robertson
Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)
We study certain group actions on triangle buildings and their boundaries and some von Neumann algebras which can be constructed from them. In particular, for buildings of order q ≥ 3 certain natural actions on the boundary are hyperfinite of type III1/q2.

This inventory report Is a summary compilation of the major facilities of real property owned by the Federal Government in this state. The installations are listed alphabetically by the city in which they are located and the listing includes a brief description of the installation, the agency which operates the facility, the GSA inventory number, the GSA location code, the total floor area of all the buildings and a size classification code. The operating agency and Installation descriptions are those reported to the General Services Administration as of June 30, 1970. Installations with a total floor area less than 1,500 …
