Investigating The Effect Of Self-Trapped Holes In The Current Gain Mechanism Of $ \Beta \Mathbf{-}{\Mathbf{Ga}}_{\Mathbf{2}}{\Mathbf{O}}_{\Mathbf{3}}$ Schottky Diode Photodetectors, Fati̇h Akyol

Turkish Journal of Physics

Monoclinic gallium oxide $(\beta\mathrm{-}{\mathrm{Ga}}_{\mathrm{2}}{\mathrm{O}}_{\mathrm{3}})$ has found great research interest in solar blind photodetector (SBP) applications due to its' bandgap $\mathrm{\sim}$4.85 eV and availability of high quality native crystal growth. Applications including missile guidance, flame detection, underwater/intersatellite communication and water purification systems require SBPs. $\beta\mathrm{-}{\mathrm{Ga}}_{\mathrm{2}}{\mathrm{O}}_{\mathrm{3}}$ SBPs with high responsivity values have been published indicating internal gain in these devices. The gain has been attributed to accumulation of self-trapped hole (STH) below Schottky metal which the lowers Schottky barrier in these devices based on some approximations rather than a proper device simulation. In this paper, technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulation of $\beta\mathrm{-}{\mathrm{Ga}}_{\mathrm{2}}{\mathrm{O}}_{\mathrm{3}}$ …

Monitoring Akkuyu Nuclear Reactor Using Antineutrino Flux Measurement, Sertaç Öztürk, Aytül Adigüzel, Veysi̇ Erkcan Özcan, Nafi̇z Gökhan Ünel

Turkish Journal of Physics

We present a simulation-based study for monitoring Akkuyu nuclear power plant's activity using antineutrino flux originating from the reactor core. A gadolinium-doped water Cherenkov detector was designed and optimization studies were performed using the Geant4 simulation toolkit. It was found that the bottom (or top) face of the target should be instrumented by six 10-inch-diameter photomultiplier tubes with photon detection efficiency of about 35% and the optimum Gd concentration was found to be about 0.3%-0.5%. The first study on the design of a monitoring detector facility for Akkuyu nuclear power plant is discussed in this paper.

Initial Electron Beam Polarization Measurement In E-\Gamma Collisions, Gökhan Ünel Jan 2003

Initial Electron Beam Polarization Measurement In E-\Gamma Collisions, Gökhan Ünel

Turkish Journal of Physics

The future high energy e e colliders, together with the complementary \gamma \gamma option, will offer possibilities for both discovery and precision physics. The uncertainty on the initial beam polarizations contributes to the systematic errors in each case. Therefore, it is crucial to obtain the precise beam polarizations by independent measurements. The e \gamma \rightarrow \nu W process in the e \gamma mode can be used to experimentally determine the polarization of the initial e beam. This note addresses the feasibility of making such a measurement with a relative statistical error of one percent. Generator and detector level MC tools …
