Cancer, a leading global cause of mortality, demands continuous advancements in therapeutic strategies. This study focuses on the design and synthesis of a novel series of purine derivatives, specifically 6-(substituted phenyl piperazine)-8-(4-phenoxyphenyl)-9-cyclopentyl purine derivatives (5–11). The motivation behind this endeavor lies in addressing acquired resistance mechanisms in cancer cells, a significant hurdle in current treatment modalities. The synthesis, starting from 4,6-dichloro-5-nitropyrimidine, involves a multi-step process, resulting in seven new purine derivatives. Biological evaluation against human liver, colon, and breast cancer cells (Huh7, HCT116, and MCF7, respectively) was performed using the SRB assay. The design or investigation of fluorescence probes continues to receive attention with respect to the diverse applications of spectrofluorometry. Depending on the highly sensitive character, fluorescence spectroscopy-based methodologies have been widely used in recent years in different sciences, including analytical, environmental, and medicinal chemistry areas. In our previous works, we have shown the iron (III) selective on-off sensor properties of benzo[c]chromen-6-one derivatives. Quinazoline derivatives are a class of important antitumor drugs known as small molecule inhibitors that include epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors. Based on the structure of poziotinib, a series of 6-aryloxyl substituted quinazoline derivatives were designed and synthesized. The in vitro antitumor activities of the compounds were evaluated by the 3-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2- yl)2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) method using the human gastric cancer N87 (HER2), nonsmall-cell lung cancer H1975 (EGFRT790M/L858R), and A549 (EGFRWT) cell lines. Several 5-(alkylsulfonyl)-1-substituted-2-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole derivatives were synthesized and their antioxidant activities were investigated using lipid peroxidation (LPO) and 7-ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) assays. Docking analysis with Human NAD[P]H-Quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) was also performed to gather thorough information about these compounds that have antioxidant activities. Moreover, their molecular descriptors and ADME properties were calculated using the SwissADME online program. As a result, most of our compounds possessed better affinity and created ample interactions with NQO1. The most potent compound 5j had LP inhibition value of 3.73 nmol/mg/min. A series of indole (In) and carbazole (Cz) derivative monomers have been synthesized, such as 4-[3-carbazolyl] indole (4In-3Cz), 5-[3-carbazolyl] indole (5In-3Cz), 6-[3-carbazolyl] indole (6In-3Cz), 7-[3-carbazolyl] indole (7In-3Cz). The comonomers synthesized by Stille coupling reaction were characterized by 1H-NMR and elemental analysis. Potentiodynamic method was used for electropolymerization of comonomers, Indole, Cz, and the mixture of In and Cz. The paper describes methods for the preparation of compounds with an apatite structure containing only iodine atoms in the "halogen" position. The crystal structure of the compounds was refined by the Rietveld method. In this study, the synthesis of new monostyryl (BDPY-2) and distyryl BODIPY dyes (BDPY-4, BDPY-5) containing pyridine groups has been reported for the first time. The acetylcholinesterase from Electrophorus electricus (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase from equine serum (BuChE), α-glucosidase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and DNA hydrolytic cleavage actions of BDPY-2, BDPY-4, BDPY- 5 were investigated using various techniques. The results indicated that the compounds had varying inhibition properties against AChE, BuChE, and α-glucosidase. BDPY-4 was the most potent compound on AChE with IC50 of 54.78 ± 4.51 μM, and Lineweaver-Burk plots indicated that the compound is bound to a site other than the …

The aqua-bis(ethylenediamine)-chloro-copper(II) chloride complex, [Cu(en)2 (H2O)(Cl)]Cl (1), was synthesized by direct interaction of CuCl2×2H2O with pepa (pepa is a polyethylenepolyamine containing ethylenediamine (en)). The crystalline complex 1 was characterized by IR spectra and structurally studied. Crystals of this complex consist of the [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)] + discrete cations, whose Cu2+ ion is chelated by two en molecules. 3-[5-(diethylamino)-2-formylphenoxy]phthalonitrile (n-TY-CN), metallophthalocyanines n-TY-Co, n-TY-Cu, and n-TY-Mn bearing [5-(diethylamino)-2-formylphenoxy] groups at nonperipheral positions were prepared for the first time. These compounds were characterized with IR, NMR (only for n-TY-CN), mass and UV-vis (except n-TY-CN) spectroscopy. Voltammetric characterizations of n-TY-Co, n-TY-Cu, and n-TY-Mn revealed that while n-TY-Co, n-TY-Cu, and n-TY-Mn showed characteristic Pc ring and/or metal-based reduction reaction, n-TY-Co, n-TY-Cu, and n-TY-Mn were coated on the working electrode during the oxidation processes owing to the cationic electropolymerizations of the [5-(diethylamino)-2-formylphenoxy] substituents.

Time-dependent degradation (aging) has become more severe in modern CMOS technologies. Therefore, it is highly critical to capture the variation effects and design reliable circuits against aging. Four linear nonphenolic diarylheptanoids were synthesized and their antibacterial activities were studied. ($S)$-2-Me-CBS-catalysed reduction of alnustone with BH$_{3}$.SMe$_{2}$ gave ($R)$(-)(4$E$,6$E)$-1,7-diphenylhepta-4,6-dien-3-ol, a natural product. Reduction of alnustone with Na in t-BuOH at -15 $^{\circ}$C under NH$_{3}$ atm gave ($E)$-1,7-diphenylhept-5-en-3-one as a Birch-type reduction product. $t$-BuOK catalysed condensation of benzalacetone with propionyl chloride gave (4$Z$,6$E)$-5-hydroxy-1,7-diphenylhepta-4,6-dien-3-one, a natural product. In this study, new chalcone compound 1, new phthalonitrile derivatives 2 and 3, new copper(II), manganese(III) phthalocyanines bearing chalcone groups at peripheral or nonperipheral positions were synthesized. Electrochemistry of tetra-(4- {(2E)-3-[2-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]prop-2-enoyl}phenoxy) substituted Co(II)Pc and Mn(III)Pcs were studied with cyclic voltammetry (CV) to determine the redox properties of the phthalocyanines. According to the results, while the CuPcs 2a and 3a showed two Pc based reduction reactions and one Pc based oxidation reaction, MnPcs 2b and 3b gave two metal-based reduction reactions. The 4-(2-[3,4-dimethoxyphenoxy] phenoxy) phthalonitrile was synthesized as the starting material of new syntheses. Zinc, copper, and cobalt phthalocyanines were achieved by reaction of starting compound with Zn(CH3COO)2, CuCl2, and CoCl2 metal salts. Basic spectroscopic methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance electronic absorption, mass and infrared spectrometry were used in the structural characterization of the compounds. Absorption, excitation, and emission measurements of the fluorescence zinc phthalocyanine compound were also investigated in THF. Then, structural, energy, and electronic properties for synthesized metallophthalocyanines were determined by quantum chemical calculations, including the DFT method. Cyclodextrins (CDs) are natural, nontoxic, and biodegradable macrocyclic oligosaccharides. As supramolecular hosts, CDs have numerous applications in many aspects. However, nonsubstituted CDs have the disadvantages of solubility, unspecific recognition sites, and weak interactions with guest molecules. Therefore, new CD-based derivatives are successfully designed, synthesized, and widely used in various fields. This contribution outlines the research progress in CD derivatives. In particular, this review emphasizes the synthesis and application of CDs modified through functionalization in definite positions, random substitution, and reconstruction of the skeleton. At the end of this review, a summary and future directions are presented.

In this work, 4-(3-morpholin-4-ylpropoxy)phthalonitrile 2, 3-(3-morpholin-4-ylpropoxy)phthalonitrile 3, Co(II)Pc and Mn(III)Pcs containing (3-morpholin-4-ylpropoxy) groups at peripheral and nonperipheral positions were synthesized. Phthalonitrile derivatives (2 and 3), Co(II)Pc and Mn(III)Pcs (2a, 2b, 3a, 3b) were characterized by using FT-IR, NMR (only for 2 and 3), mass and UV-Vis (except 2 and 3) spectral data techniques. Also, electrochemistry of (3-morpholin-4-ylpropoxy) group substituted Co(II)Pc and Mn(III)Pcs were inspected by using cyclic voltammetry. Electrochemical studies show that (3-morpholin-4-ylpropoxy) group substituted Co(II)Pc and Mn(III)Pcs electropolymerized on the Pt working electrode.

Twenty-two compounds in a series of 1-(benzo[$b$]thiophen-4-yl)-4-(2-(oxo, hydroxy, and fluoro)-2-phenylethyl) piperazine and 1-(benzo[$d$]isothiazole-3-yl)-4-(2-(oxo, hydroxy, and fluoro)-2-phenylethyl)-piperazine derivatives were synthesized through nucleophilic substitution reaction of phenacyl bromides with hetero arylpiperazine, reduction, and then fluorination. Compound K2 showed potent activity against gram-negative bacterial stain P. aeruginosa with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of 12.5 μg/mL. This compound showed better inhibitory activity than the standard drug chloramphenicol. K4 against S. aureus, H2 against P. aeruginosa, and F4 against E. coli showed good inhibitory activity with MIC values of 62.5 μg/mL. A series of novel sulfide derivatives containing 1,3,4-oxadiazole and pyridine were synthesized, characterized, and tested for their antibacterial activity against tobacco bacterial wilt and rice bacterial blight and for insecticidal activity toward diamondback moth. The results showed that some compounds had good insecticidal and bactericidal activity, e.g., the activities of compounds 6e and 6g-6j toward tobacco bacterial wilt were much better than those of commercial thiodiazole-copper, and some of the synthesized compounds possessed good insecticidal activity against Plutella xylostella. Compounds 6d, 6h, 6j, 6l, 6p, 6r, and 6p displayed over 93% activity at 500 mg L$^{-1}$.

A series of sulfonamide derivatives were synthesized by reactions with various functional groups containing benzenesulfonyl chlorides and aniline derivatives under different substitution reaction conditions. The structures of SMZ derivatives were confirmed with melting point, FT-IR, $^{1}$H NMR, $^{13}$C NMR, and LC-MS/MS techniques. In order to investigate the cytotoxic effects of these derivatives, we used a model plant species. The synthesized compounds (S1-S5) and sulfamethazine (SMZ) as a positive control were applied to Arabidopsis thaliana seeds. In the present investigation, some novel S-(5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)2-chloroethanethioate (3a-3e) derivatives were synthesized and their impact on optical properties was studied. They have also been characterized by elemental analysis and various spectroscopic methods including FTIR, $^{1}$H NMR, $^{13}$C NMR, and UV-Vis techniques. The nonlinear refractive indexes of 3a-3e were also measured in dichloromethane via Z-scan method using a continuous wave diode-pumped laser at 532 nm wavelength. The nonlinear refractive coefficient of compounds was obtained from ${10}^{11}\, \, {m}^{{2}}{/W}$ order. As a starting material, 7-tert-butyldibenzo [b,e] [1,4] dioxine-2,3-dicarbonitrile was prepared by the reac- tion of 4-tert-butylcatechol with 4,5-dichlorophthalonitrile. Metallophthalocyanine complexes 4-7 were obtained by cyclotetramerization of 7-tert-butyldibenzo [b,e] [1,4] dioxine-2,3-dicarbonitrile. All compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and other spectroscopic methods (IR, UV/Vis, and $^{1}$H NMR). Phthalocyanine compounds remained nonaggregated in tetrahydrofuran at the studied concentration ranges. Metallophthalocyanines 4-7 were tested for their antioxidant activities. This study presents the synthesis of glucose-based surfactants including quaternary ammonium salts. Their surface properties and influence on the soil environment were investigated. The synthesized quaternary ammonium chlorides of glucose-based ester exhibited good surface tension reduction properties and formed stable foam in contact with water. The results showed that quaternary ester ammonium salts affect the activation of metals (nickel and cadmium) from the soil matrix after their introduction into the soil environment. This phenomenon can increase the bioavailability of these metals. These scaffolds manifest diversified biological activities such as antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, anti-HIV, antitubercular, antitumor, antineoplastic, and antimalarial. A pyrimidine ring is constructed when chalcones, amidines, guanidine, nitriles, isocyanates, urea, thiourea, and aminopyrazoles undergo condensation, coupling, or cyclization reactions. In this context, the present review illustrates a variety of novel and efficient synthetic approaches towards the synthesis of pyrimidine and its derivatives that were reported recently.

We prepared novel unsymmetrical A$_{3}$B-type zinc and cobalt phthalocyanines bearing monocarboxylic acid groups on peripheral positions using statistical condensation method, especially designed to anchor on the TiO$_{2}$ semiconductor surface. The novel complexes were anchored on TiO$_{2}$ semiconductor to prepare effective dye sensitized photoactive composites as heterogeneous catalysts. The results indicated that modified TiO$_{2}$ nanocrystals possessed only the anatase phase and MPc-TiO$_{2}$ photocatalysts with loading amount of dye ca. 8.27 $\mu $mol/g TiO$_{2}$ exhibit strong visible light absorption. A highly dispersible and magnetically recoverable Cu-PEI@Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ MNPs catalyst was prepared and successfully applied in one-pot three-component coupling of terminal alkynes, sodium azide, and alkyl bromides/chlorides in water to give 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles with good to excellent yields. The catalyst was fully characterized with FT-IR, TGA, TEM, SEM, VSM, EDX, cyclic voltammetry, and ICP-AES spectroscopic techniques. Thirty-one complexes of bis-(benzimidazole, benzothiazole, and benzoxazole) compounds with Zr(IV) metal centers were synthesized, characterized, activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO), and then tested for catalytic ethylene polymerization. The activities of the various catalysts were found to be functions of the heteroatoms in the ligand frameworks and the structure around the active metal center. The highest activity was obtained with 38/MAO (424 kg E/mol cat. h). The produced polyethylenes showed high molecular weights (41/MAO, 1.9 $\times$ 10$^{6}$ g/mol) and broad molecular weight distributions (38/MAO, M$_{w}$ = 9.64 $\times $ 10$^{5}$ g/mol, PD = 23). Methyl 4-((9H-(carbazole-9-carbanothioylthio) benzoate (MCzCTB) was chemically synthesized and characterized by FTIR, ^1H NMR, and ^{13}C NMR. A novel synthesized monomer was electropolymerized on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in various initial molar concentrations of [MCzCTB]_0= 1, 3, 5, and 10 mM in 0.1 M NaClO_4/CH_3CN and 1 M H_2SO_4. P(MCzCTB)/GCE was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, Fourier transform infrared-attenuated transmittance reflectance, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. This study reports the design, synthesis, and calcium channel modulatory activity evaluation of a series of 14 novel fused 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives. The molecular design of the compounds was based on modifications of nifedipine, which is a calcium channel blocker. The compounds were achieved by one-pot microwave-assisted reaction of 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione, 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde/3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde, an appropriate alkyl acetoacetate, and ammonium acetate in ethanol according to a modified Hantzsch reaction.
